The Romney campaign was so offended when Democrats used the Sunday talk shows to question Romney's Swiss bank account, but then the Obama campaign fired a catty response right back. These two are fighting and gossiping like high school girls.
The Romney campaign issued a statement saying just how offended they were that the Obama campaign would question his offshore accounts. They called the questioning "unseemly and disgusting," and accused the President of being a bully:
"The Obama campaigns latest unfounded character assault on Mitt Romney is unseemly and disgusting. Mitt Romney had a successful career in the private sector, pays every dime of taxes he owes, has given generously to charitable organizations, and served numerous causes greater than himself. Barack Obama has become what he once ran against a typical politician willing to use false and dishonest attacks to save his job after failing to do his job. The American people expected more from this president, and he continues to let them down."
The Dems came out hard against Romney's questionable finance history on Sunday. Senior Obama campaign advisor Robert Gibbs said instead of 'Believe in America,' Romney's campaign slogan "should be 'Business In Bermuda'" on State of the Union. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said, "Americans need to ask themselves: why does an American businessman need a Swiss bank account and secretive investments like that?" on Fox News Sunday. Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley said "Ive never known of a Swiss bank account to build an American bridge, a Swiss bank account to create American jobs, or a Swiss bank accounts to rebuild the levies to protect the people of New Orleans," on This Week. They were so mean.

(57,936 posts)simple reality that most people don't like people who have a lot of money and selfishly profit from destroying struggling companies rather than from investing in companies and jobs in the US.
Romney is a spoiled rich kid. That's all he is. And so are the Koch brothers and all their ilk.

(2,307 posts)It is unseemly and disgusting when you either don't have a plan for anything or a plan which is barely an outline much less a plan.
It is unseemly and disgusting when you won't answer even the most simple question.
Basically, Mitt Romney is unseemly and disgusting.

"HOW DARE you!?!"
I'm afraid Romney is a textbook NPD case, and I am really afraid of him.

(6,145 posts)The whining here makes me think it's time to press harder on the issue. I sometimes wonder if Mitt payed no federal tax at all during the filing years he's refusing to disclose.
That might be an interesting October surprise.

(4,982 posts)Really?
Nothing untrue about anything the Obama camp has said at all. If there is, what exactly is untrue or false about it? Romney has numerous accounts in overseas tax havens. Nothing untrue about that. Romney refuses to release all of his tax returns. Nothing untrue about that. Romney transferred a Bahamian corporation of which he is sole proprietor into a trust in his wife's name just before becoming Gov. of MA. Nothing untrue about that either.
If all this stuff looks unseemly, and seems "tax evasive", it's not Democrats' fault. It's Romney's. Poor little whiner.

(57,936 posts)Elizabeth Warren had not chosen to pay extra taxes?
Why the inconsistent standards on disclosure?
Why shouldn't Republicans be measured by the standard by which they measure Democrats?
Why hasn't Romney paid extra taxes?
ProfessionalLeftist
(4,982 posts)in a country that you are actively evading paying taxes in. It should just be the law. To say "It's legal" to evade paying taxes isn't acceptable. It's only legal because the Wall St., the wealthy and big corps write the tax code (via lobbying and arm-twisting of our reps) and they do it to benefit themselves at the expense of everyone else ie: "the common" people as that snooty woman at the Koch Bros function for Romney called us.
And yea we're aware what's going on and how "the systems" work. Hoo boy are we aware! Painfully so.
A lot of things are legal. That doesn't make them moral or ethical. Especially for a Presidential candidate. Happily, bumbling, baby-stepping Mittens has tax evasion poo on his underoos for all the world to see now. As well he should. A gilded dirtbag is a dirtbag nonetheless. Pfft.
