2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhy I will not vote for Hillary in the primary
It is a subtle thing in her use of language
I have heard her say these things
"I will let the american people decide" - It is not her place to let us decide - better - the people will decide
"I am telling you to tell me" - is this the way to ask a question - better - what would you like to say
these are to two I remember now but I know I have been struck by her condescension often
she will never care

How can we live with this demon on Earth?
Never mind.

When someone asked her about her position on the KXL, she said we would find out her answer after she gets in office.
That was a defining moment for us, weighing more heavily than her support for TransCanada and the TPP.

As it stands, most in our family will vote for Sanders in the primary, but will support the Democrat's nominee.

(9,497 posts)It's only the environment. We have centuries to creep small incremental changes in place. You see, we can (and by we...I am not talking about you or the American people) still make hefty profits and not have to face the music on our actions! Lets rape the land, pollutes the waters, frack the hell out of Oklahoma and as many other states.
The Pacific Northwest is on fire, the snows didn't arrive so now the rivers are so warm salmon are dying before they lay their roe. And we got it good.

This just makes me so mad. We had such a beautiful planet and we have screwed it up and no one in power had the balls to say no to big business and protect her.

This is the viewpoint of why the evangelicals feel that the earth is man's playground to do what they want...
This was a powerful poem in the day and still remains as such. It's the belief that the earch regenerates itself overnight for people to use the next morning.

(12,159 posts)but that is not what I take from it. It is not a regeneration that happens daily with the new light of dawn, but ultimately the smudge and smell of humanity will be cleansed andthe dead soil restored to life. Perhaps what inspired Hopkins were certain verses from the Bible that speak of a coming New Heavens and New Earth. This does not give us free reign to trash the earth, but that despite our ungrateful and misuse of its bounty it will be restored to its former or even greater beauty.
2 Peter 3
10But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a mighty roar and the elements will be dissolved by fire, and the earth and everything done on it will be found out.
11Since everything is to be dissolved in this way, what sort of persons ought [you] to be, conducting yourselves in holiness and devotion, 12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved in flames and the elements melted by fire. 13But according to his promise we await new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
Revelations 21:1
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
Isaiah 65:17
See, I am creating new heavens
and a new earth;
The former things shall not be remembered
nor come to mind.
The world is charged with the grandeur of God.
It will flame out, like shining from shook foil;
It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil
Crushed. Why do men then now not reck his rod?
Generations have trod, have trod, have trod;
And all is seared with trade; Bleared, smeared with toil;
And wears man's smudge and shares man's smell: the soil
Is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod.
And for all this, nature is never spent;
There lives the dearest freshness deep down things;
And though the last lights off the black West went
Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs
Because the Holy Ghost over the bent
World broods with warm breast and with ah! bright wings.
