2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDid Bernie cancel a meeting with BLM scheduled AFTER Netroots?

It's something I've come across lately and I didn't read that until today. After the Netroot's protest, I remember seeing footage of him being asked how to solve institutional racism (I believe it was) and it seemed like he was sitting down with some people. In addition, I never heard mention of a scheduled Sander's BLM meeting until recently when Hillary and Bush met with BLM members. And if that was the case (that Bernie cancelled a meeting with BLM), I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe it wasn't being screamed from the rooftops until now.
Amazing how they requested a meeting with Bush (and met with him before his speech). Also, they limited their chanting to just repeating BLM and that didn't take place until his speech was wrapped up or wrapping up. Does that even qualify as a protest?
Interesting how both the dynasty candidates get advance notice and are asked for meetings, and there was no distorted spin afterwards or outright lies used against them.
Plus, only the progressives have been called white supremacists. That one really has me scratching my head. Oh well, the Corporate/Moderate wing of the Democratic Party and the Republicans must both be happy with that attack against progressives.
I guess they are right when they say politics makes strange bedfellows....
I've updated the title.

(38,613 posts)but canceled it after the protest. I don't recall if that was linked to an article or not.
But I would expect every possible corner of this topic to be exploited at some point or another, just to keep the concept alive. People were counting on this being the end of him and aren't willing to let this go without kicking & screaming.

(10,007 posts)Cooper said Sanders gave pat responses to their suggestions. He told them to look at his website. He reminded them he once walked with Martin Luther King Jr.
"They were almost distraught," Cooper said. "They kept saying, 'This is what we're fighting for.' We said, 'We're not saying that's not true. We're saying all you're doing is talking about it. We need direct action. What are you going to do? While you are just talking, people are dying.'"
The next evening, at a rally in Los Angeles, Sanders workers did just as Cooper said he had suggested.
"It is very important that we say the words 'black lives matter,'" Symone Sanders told the crowd. "But it's also important to have people in political office who are going to turn those words into action. No candidate for president is going to fight harder for criminal justice reform and racial justice issues than Senator Bernie Sanders."
Cooper said he'll wait to see what happens next.
"Maybe he's finally going to start making a change," Cooper said. "Maybe he listened. Hopefully we got into his head. We'll see."
The bolded portion, IMHO, demonstrates the disconnect that is at the core of the BLM/Sanders kerfluffle.
"We need direct action. What are you going to do? While you are just talking, people are dying.'" A very good point, which was echoed by Symone in her introduction ("But it's also important to have people in political office who are going to turn those words into action. No candidate for president is going to fight harder for criminal justice reform and racial justice issues than Senator Bernie Sanders.").
Bernie has pledged to take action once elected. But what, exactly, does BLM expect Bernie Sanders to do right now besides include the issue of racial violence and injustice as a plank in his platform? He has done that, yet BLM still calls him out for "ignoring" them. It's disingenuous.

Oh, they shared wine and cheese in a private room? Well, that will sure get them to bow down. Take that Jebby and Hills.
Hmmm.
