Borowitz: Sanders Shamelessly Pandering to Voters Who Want to Hear Truth

NEW HAMPSHIRE (The Borowitz Report)—Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is gaining legions of new admirers by shamelessly pandering to voters who want to hear the truth, critics of the Vermont Senator say.

According to those critics, Sanders has cynically targeted so-called “truth-based voters” to build support for his Presidential bid.

“People come to Sanders’s rallies expecting to hear the truth, and he serves it up to them on a silver platter,” said the political strategist Harland Dorrinson. “It’s a very calculated gimmick.”

But while Sanders’s practice of relentlessly telling the truth might play well in states that are rich in truth-based voters, like the early primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire, critics say that his campaign could stall in states where the truth has historically been less important, like Florida.

“At some point in this campaign, voters are going to get truth fatigue,” Dorrinson said. “Right now, the novelty of a politician who doesn’t constantly spew lies is grabbing headlines. But after months of Bernie Sanders telling the truth, voters are going to start wondering, Is that all he’s got?”

Dorrinson is just one of many critics who is eagerly waiting for the Sanders phenomenon to come down to earth. “Telling the truth may be working for Bernie Sanders, but it shows a serious lack of respect for the American political system,” he said.

Hillary serves up lies and people really want that? I don't get it. I do know one thing though...the Clintons are Historic allies of the Bush Family and even self-declared, honorary members of that family which is a rare title to hold. I see very little difference between the two and if we get served up another Bush/Clinton election where they scratch each others back afterwords then we will have lost all hope in our democracy and may as well just publicly call it an oligarchy from then on. Every one I know would vomit at this match up except Wall St and the Military and its contractors.

While you're at it, you can look up Andy Borowitz and see where it says "satirist." That might clear up your confusion.

Not that it's easy to tell satire from real news anymore. You can take almost any story that starts out "Donald Trump says . . ." and expect something unbelievably crazy to follow. I'm amazed The Onion can compete with reality these days.

There are really only two sides to this class war and if you choose to side with Goldman-Sachs, you are on the side of the 1%.

are we always supposed to be fighting the oligarchy and their favorite democrat so politely, we never point out this is a class struggle and we have a decision vote for democracy and Bernie or the oligarchy and say her name.
Play nice is always the refrain of those in power because they recognize it stifles free speech.
I am frankly pretty sick of DINOs and their work against the people of this country. Lets speak out and tell people what we stand for and what the other candidates stand for, no matter their race or gender. Democracy is supposed to be mesy and a class struggle to actually get some democracy cannot proceed in silence.
It is clear, the deck is stacked against us, the people, and against Bernie and for the candidate of the established oligarchy. Are we just going to sit silent and act as if this is not happening.
Are we going to sit silent while our President rewards the oligarchy by handing them our National Sovereignty by signing the Trans Pacific Partnership ? Are we so enamored of a black president who while doing some good never moves far from center to actually challenge the oligarchy, the same oligarchy than institutionalizes racism, promotes police brutality, poverty across the nation to keep people needy and wages down, fights unions and now want to destroy our right to defnd our working families, the poor and our environment?
I am recently seeing postings by right wingers in support of their oligarchy bosses stating that all the democratic party has is two 70 year old socialists. I hope no one buys this garbage, I have heard Hillary and I know she is not a socialist. And in this case, I do not think that is a good thing.

Borowitz, may not know this, but if a mom and dad look at their kids crying because they are hungry, and mom and dad are out of money to buy food, guess what? Bernie is not telling these parents anything new.

Income equality is not something that is easy to hide, if my ceo make 100 times more money than I make, I know there is a problem.

Parents who send their kids to public schools learn quickly that all schools are not equal. A lot of public schools in USA inner cities don't have the resources some 3rd world nations school have.

Bernie is not getting large crowds because he is telling truth, Bernie is getting large crowds because he is preaching to the choir!

A lot of USA citizens are hurting, and the pain they feel is real.

Go Bernie Go!

"critics say that his campaign could stall in states where the truth has historically been less important, like Florida."

Truth was totally unimportant when GW ran against Gore, but only to the top Repugs. It was critically important to everyone else, except of course the felonious five, his brother the governor of FL and FL Secretary of State who was the Chairwoman of the GW campaign in FL. They weren't deterred by such minor things as actual votes, they had a goal and they made sure they met it. Obviously, they didn't let such minor things as the constitution stand in the way of their desired result.
