The protesters said Hillary's answer were "similar" to what they've heard from other candidates "in that it is a political response."

(86,005 posts)...this refers to the effort by the Clinton campaign to reach out to the activists after their late arrival prevented their access to the main event hall.
These activist actions don't appear to be coordinated with other states, except, maybe, in their intention to confront these candidates. That makes sense seeing how loosely organized the movement is. This group says they were there to 'ask questions' of the candidate. The campaign reached out to them and provided that opportunity.

(6,402 posts)It's interesting to watch how it's evolved in the past year since the BLM movement/hashtag went out there and the narrative that it brought to the forefront.
Had a lot of conversations with family that were dismissive of Brown/Ferguson because they couldn't grasp what was going on since their police interactions are minimal and polite when done. Made some progress to be sure in getting them to look through things with a new lens rather than their own, especially as more events/murders became public and there was a sustained narrative to work with.
But I'll say that if the whole "white supremacist" angle keeps being used and that becomes the approach to it, it's going to lose a lot of people in terms of public support because who wants to be associated with that?
The actual ideas behind the origin of the BLM and what they're trying to achieve are things I support and get behind and will vote for the candidates that try to deal with it (which, frankly, aren't presidential. They can set tone and agenda but the hard work is done at the state level and with reps and senators in DC). But there's going to be a disassociative effect going on if the whole white supremacist line becomes a plank in the BLM platform.
