What are your thoughts on the Congressman from El Paso as a potential VP candidate?
IMO, he comes across as more authentic (actually speaks fluent Spanish) and less smarmy than Castro, while providing a solid balance if we go with HRC/Bernie/Biden. The only candidate I'd be hesitant to align him with would be O'Malley.
Most importantly, what do Latinos think of this guy? Real or pander-y?

(23,156 posts)I was afraid I was going to have to ask.
On paper he sounds just fine, but aside from the fact it's almost a year too early to begin to think about potential VP candidates, who the nominee at the top of the ticket is will make a huge difference.
All things being equal -- not that they are -- a Hillary VP choice is going to be very different from a Bernie VP choice and so on.
Back to your question. The biggest problem is that a Congressman has almost no national presence, making him a very iffy choice.

(73 posts)I admit I knew nothing about him till last night, until my Hispanic BF brought him to my attention. Really like what I'm seeing via YouTube.
DU is probably not the best place to ask this question, but was curious how this target market saw him. I'd like to see how he resonates amongst Hispanic voters--that's what's most important. Gotta grow the base without coming across as overly pandering, imo.
