AAs then this make them very happy. But they never needed to be so 'concerned' which I repeatedly tried to tell them. Minoriity groups have been signing on to Bernie's campaign every day since it began.

Symone Sanders was on who was supporting him. She reached out to his campaign having watched the dirty tricksters at work, using the Race Card because she felt she could help him handle it. He agreed with her. And now she's part of the campaign.

She isn't the only one, I've posted a few wonderful people who explained, as she has, why they were supporting his campaign.

But you can't argue with talking points, all it does is trigger a repeat of the talking point. I only bother for those reading.

I don't buy for a second that some on this site were generally concerned about Bernie reaching AAs, not with the "white liberal" bludgeoning that's gone on around here of late.

DU has been pretty toxic this weekend. It's refreshing to post something so positive!

Really unified all of us the way it should have happened everywhere in Seattle yesterday!

They apparently thought she was another protester who had taken the stage.

Ms. Sanders is just what Bernie's campaign needed.

12. Is Symone Sanders a "token"?

I support most all of Bernie's positions on the issues, and I think BLM disruptions of his events are absurd. But Bernie's sudden high appointment of this unknown woman of color IMO reveals one of the most urgent agenda items for getting beyond "protest candidate" status.

African-Americans, Hispanics, and other POC are the mainstay of Democratic Party presidential success. Mitt Romney won even the youth vote among Caucasians.

Where are Bernie's visible meetings with wellknown politicians and organizations that represent the brown majority of Democrats? Until Bernie gets well beyond reactive tokenism, his chances of actually reaching the Oval Office are minuscule IMO.

is this young, accomplished, educated woman a "token"? I'm just logging on for the day, but I recall a thread yesterday that discusses how Ms. Sanders came to be a part of Bernie's campaign, and it was anything but "sudden." If I come across it in my travels, I'll update this post. But something tells me you couldn't give a shit. Amiright?

This woman is no token. She is a powerful speaker on her own. She has bona-fides as an activist and youth organizer.

If you think that Bernie rushed out and hired her in response to BLM at Seattle you are sorely mistaken. He did reach out after Netroots to several people to help with understanding the movement and to help refine how to express his support. My guess is that she impressed him, he hired her.

I for one can't wait to watch her dealing with the press.
