Antonin Scalia Belongs on Reality TV, Not the Supreme Court Bench
Scalia's loose-cannon method of "interpreting" the law - and then grandstanding like some carnival barker - is better suited to a reality show than the Supreme Court.
Indeed, one can't help wishing that he'd try out for The X Factor, just for the fun of seeing him get a taste of his own medicine from Simon Cowell. Or appearing on Hell's Kitchen for the pure joy of seeing him bombarded with four-letter words and forced to eat his own bad cooking. He's put the nation through enough hell as it is.
Heck, he doesn't even respect his fellow justices. Case in point: He labeled one ruling authored by fellow Justice Sonia Sotomayor "unprincipled," "utter nonsense" and a "gross distortion of the facts." In another decision, he wrote that now-retired Justice Sandra Day O'Connor's opinion was "irrational" and "cannot be taken seriously."
If Scalia can't even respect his fellow justices, why should anyone respect him? Respect is earned and reciprocal, not blindly offered at the feet of some aging egotist simply because he happens to be a man in black. (Apologies to Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Johnny Cash for the unflattering comparison.)
