2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDKos: Hillary rallies the troops in Denver
Daily Kos:The highlight was an appearance by Hillary, who is also in the state for a couple of fundraisers. She was introduced by a number of local pols, most notably Diana Degette, Congresswoman for CO-1 and a big liberal. Central themes of intros: Hilary is a fighter who knows how to fight and will fight for you. Also, she's got a lot of experience fighting, especially taking a hit and keeping on fighting. Works for me.
I noticed a LOT of younger women in the audience. Not so many old leftie fogies like me as I'd expected.
And Hillary spoke to them. She spoke for about 30 minutes and had 3 major themes: the assault on women's health, specifically Planned Parenthood, the assault on immigrants and her support for Dreamers and a Path to Citizenship and the need to aggressively address climate change. Along the line she addressed issues of inequality in all these themes. To me, she sounded like a real liberal, because that's what she is. She also gave the Republicans a lot of crap, especially Jeb. I guess I felt she successfully created a sense of intimacy and common purpose among those of us in the room.
Now why would young people be attracted to a "DINO" like Hillary Clinton.....?

(297,512 posts)No interest personally in ideological flame wars. I think the Democratic Party is very fortunate to have such great candidates. Just thought folks would want to know about this event."
I love seeing this! Hillary has been listening and learning so much.. what we all would hope for ourselves.

Well done.

(73 posts)They also reported there were around "300" caucus goers. Judging by the pictures and videos, it looks to be about 80-100 people.

(73 posts)Nice enthusiasm from the crowd, but the crowd and speech was about 1/3rd the size and length than what was reported.

Robert Hurst sits on the Aspen Institutes board of trustees. The former vice chairman of Goldman Sachs currently is the managing director of Crestview Advisors, a New York-based investment firm."

Oh, I know - one post "pissing on" an otherwise informative and essential thread, right?

(26,060 posts)but heaven forbid you mention that you don' t think Bernie can win a national elections and all of a sudden you're a hater, a neo-con, corportist. The absence of self awareness is pretty stunning.

Most women would have already given up and decided to live out her retirement years in peace and quiet. Not her - she STILL has lots of work to do!

(81,435 posts)like another woman. A woman with a daughter. And a grandDAUGHTER.
Something I saw on MSNBC yesterday was rather illuminating. Some panelist said she was hearing from a lot of republi-CON women who had already resolved to vote for Hillary. Hillary is going to get a lot of crossover votes. It's just one reason out of many, but we've now broken the glass ceiling into the Oval Office for people of color, so now we need to finish the job, by smashing through it for women also. I see BlackLivesMatter as a serious woman's issue - because of all those moms. All those moms left with tears draining down their cheeks. Watching as their children meet violent, premature, unjust, and brutal deaths. THAT'S A WOMAN'S ISSUE, TOO!!!!!

(67,782 posts)....women's health. She said exactly what I said on DU last night - he's in favor of BILLIONS and billions of dollars for his rich friends, but not a half-billion for women's health issues?
I see this morning that he's backtracked, typical republican "I mis-spoke"! Yeah, he mis-spoke because it was a public appearance, in front of his 47%-ers I'm sure it would have gotten a standing ovation.

(81,435 posts)Usually the first blurt is the real one. What comes outta their yaps FIRST is what they're really thinking. That they have to backtrack and tap-dance and rephrase and reframe and hem and haw - we didn't really understand what he was saying, or he mis-spoke, or what he REALLY meant was... blah-blah-blah. And it's ALL bullshit. What's FIRST outta their mouths is usually what's in the FRONT of their minds. What's first outta their mouths is usually what's first on their list of priorities.
Like when he said he would do what his brother did and invade Iraq, even knowing what he "knows" now. And he spent all week trying to fumfer and tap-dance and stumble and trip over himself trying to figure out the better thing to say to make the criticism stop. He's one of those "5-Day Deodorant Pads." Took him five days inclusive to find the "correct" wording with which to clean up the mess he made of things. From a Monday to that Friday.

I can absolutely see why some gop women would be quite tired by now of the gop's War on Women and would want to vote for Hillary.

(3,431 posts)Sad, that my rep is already in her camp, but then Bernie
never assumed that his political revolution would come
from the politicians.
I don't know how many people attended this rally, however
it is interesting to note that her presence here played
all over the news, while Bernie's (with 5,000 people)
was totally ignored.
This tells us who is preferred by the M$M.
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)her on a limited number of folks attending and the supporters are willing to donate the limit to her campaign fund. Those attending will also be voting for Hillary in the primary and general elections. I would be interested in seeing articles where Bernie is sitting down with a limited number of supporters who also donate the maximum to his campaign fund. Also, I would not post negative comments when this happens.

(23,664 posts)I'm pretty sure there should be an asterisk there.
I've never heard anything about her "fighting" with Wall Street, the pentagon, or large energy interests.
