Mayor Villaraigosa accuses Romney of immigration 'amnesia'
By Morgan Little
June 24, 2012, 1:47 p.m.
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa accused Mitt Romney of having amnesia on immigration reform, taking the Republican presidential candidate to task for saying that President Obamas recent changes to federal immigration policies had done nothing.
Contending that congressional deadlock over the contentious issue left Obama with no choice, Villaraigosa praised the presidents announcement that deportation of young undocumented immigrants would be put on hold for two years.
The fact is the president has done what we should do, and that is addressed the fact that these kids have been living here for most of their lives, he said during an appearance on CBSs Meet the Nation.
Villaraigosa, who is a co-chairman of Obamas reelection campaign, said that Romney needs to come clean on what his immigration policies would be if elected.

(25,699 posts)1. Romney doesn't KNOW what his policies would be
On immigration, on defense, or on anything else.
He's running as a "businessman." He doesn't HAVE any policies that aren't tied to corporatism - and those policies he does have amount ot "downsize America"

(1,979 posts)5. Again, Obama shows
he's smarter than the Republicans by out-flanking them on immigration, the war, jobs...
Villaraigosa was a smart Obama choice, unlike Larry Summers or Secretary Duncan.
