Health Care Industry Doesn't Want Repeal

It's interesting to note that stocks are down in the health care industry since the Supreme Court held oral arguments on the Affordable Care Act. People are selling hospital stock and stocks in a variety of insurance companies on speculation that the bill will be repealed in part or in whole. Most health care-related industries stand to lose if there is a repeal. It's not even clear that the pharmaceutical industry wants to see the law overturned at this point. They can certainly live with the deal they made, and they've put a ton of work into complying with the law that would all go to waste. If you wanted to make a gamble, you could make a small fortune betting on the stocks of these companies to go up if the the health care is upheld. And that fact alone should tell you that 100% of what the Republicans have been saying about ObamaCare is bullshit.

it's the fact this is a win for insurance companies.

it's a win because millions of uninsured people (many of them healthy young)
people will be required to join the system/pay insurance premiums.

that means more money for the insurance companies.

I fail to see why they would want it repealed.

They do hate part of it, the part where they are required to pay back 80% of premiums into care and services, but I'm sure there are workarounds that keep their bonuses intact.

With Roberts being the ultimate corporatist, I have hope they will uphold, sort of. This could actually fulfill the RWers nightmare, and be a back door to single payer, if only on a state by state basis.

6. They don't want health care repealed, but they do want Dems to lose the election

Health insurance companies are supporting Romney and other Republicans because while they want the Act to stand, a Republican legislature would amend it, stripping the consumer protections. One of those they particularly want stripped is anything relating to forcing them to take participants with pre-existing conditions, including children. That eats away at their profits....
