2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumLet's get this straight....
I'm sick of hearing all the crap about "it's the republicans and we have to vote for whoever wins the democratic nomination no matter what etc".
I will vote for the democratic nominee. Whoever he or she may be. As long as it's not Hillary Rodham Clinton.
I will not vote for one republican over another just because they have a "D" next to their name. Hillary as a liberal is a farce. If you can't deal with that, that's your problem.
If she was nominated, the party would have lost in 2008. The same is true in 2016. Biden, O'Malley, Sanders, any of these candidates are better choices. True choices. Hillary vs. Jeb is not a choice.
Carry on with your delusions. That is your right. Just stop telling the rest of us that we have to buy into it.

(62,325 posts)an awful lot of people out their, many of them non voters because they feel the same way the OP feels, are going to and ARE signing up to make sure there is a president in the WH who is FOR the PEOPLE and is not compromised by Corporate money.

(14,733 posts)after the nominee becomes obvious, you're not allowed to post anything against that person until after the Presidential election, or you get banned from the site. So if it's Hillary, silence is golden.

Then, you'll finally get your echo chamber back.

(14,733 posts)I'm not a Hillary fan. I just don't want to see people getting the boot if they can avoid it.

(19,877 posts)A Republican president and a 7-2 wingnut SCOTUS not effecting your life. Some of us want nothing to do with rightwing in power and attacking us on every front.

Biggest issue in this campaign, thanks Biden for supporting Warren and Bernie on this, is going to be the corroding, corrupting effects of money on our political system.

You are just not tracking with the facts.

(43,870 posts)No need to argue the point with you, though. People like you have different definitions of 'evidence' and 'facts' than the rest of us.

(52,169 posts)will you give up some of the rights you apparently expect the rest of us to give up so you can feel good about yourself? For example, if abortion rights get eliminated will you go without sex or in the alternative raise someone's unwanted child they were forced to carry? Or if marriage equality gets eliminated will you either divorce your spouse now or if you are unmarried vow to remain unmarried until marriage equality comes back? Or will you give up your right to vote when it is taken away from people of color? Or will you voluntarily deport yourself when whatever Republican starts deporting people? I am pretty sure you won't be doing any such thing.

(53,076 posts)That is patently false. That kind of irrational opposition to Clinton has nothing to do with her political positions or her voting record. In fact, there are other candidates in this race far closer to the GOP on the issues.
There is one thing that distinguishes Hillary Clinton, and it is not her politics.

(1,668 posts)Hillary Clinton will be much better than any republican, and I bet you will feel the same way by the time the election rolls around if she's the nominee.
Hell, Bernie would say the same thing himself and I bet he will endorse Hillary fully if she wins.

(10,007 posts)Over the past 20 years, MBNA has been Bidens single largest contributor. And as the New York Times and Wall Street Journal note, Bidens son Hunter was hired out of law school by MBNA and later worked as a lobbyist for the company.
The Times also details just how helpful Biden has been to MBNA and the credit card industry. The senator was a key supporter of an industry-favorite billthe Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005that actually made it harder for consumers to get protection under bankruptcy.
That bankruptcy bill was very, very bad for ordinary working Americans as well as the middle class. And they got it in place just before the bubble burst in 2008. Nice timing guys - it's as if you predicted that there would be a massive number of bankruptcies in the near future.

(2,427 posts)She would have a much more difficult go of it than Sanders or O'Malley. The Blue Wall is a factor and will help out whomever gets the nod but Hillary's baggage and the rights seething dislike of her brings it's own set of would-be Mongols to dismantle it.
I also feel that if she gets the nomination and it ends up being Clinton vs. Bush we will see record voter apathy.
Just my opinions.
Cheers!
