2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWarning: Mchigan pollster is a Republican front
Pollster.com and Realclearpolitics just posted a Michigan poll in which Obama leads by only 1%.

The pollster is Mitchell Research. Pollster.com and Realclearpolitics were both too lazy to put an "R" next to Mitchell Research, a company owned by a man who as early as this year has been called "Michigan's top Republican pollster]" by the ultra-right wing website Human Events. http://www.humanevents.com/2012/02/27/romney-should-win-michigan-but-dont-be-surprised-by-surprises/
In the Mitchell Research website, Steve Mitchell's bio says he "has served on the staffs of United States senators, congressmen, state senators and state representatives."
But of course we are not told whether he has worked for Republicans senators and representatives exclusively all his life, because this would be an embarassing fact that would make this pollster an obvious biased outfit with a huge conflict of interest. How slick of them and how lazy of Pollster.com and Realclearpolitics. This year we are being flooded with "pollsters" who are nothing but people with dogs in the fight. It's getting sickening.

(398 posts)First of all, you seem to be so biased that you call me out in a thread where I criticize a poll unfavorable to Obama.
Second, it would not take too much time to find out that the answer is yes. I have posted polls favorable to Obama. Today I posted the Quinnipiac poll where Obama is up by 4%.
I posted a PA poll where Obama was up by 6%: http://www.democraticunderground.com/125145129
I posted a different poll in PA where Obama had a huge lead; http://www.democraticunderground.com/125143444
I posted a poll where Obama held the lead in WI: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002746097
I don't know why you could not access those threads, but I have a theory: perhaps you want me to post polls favorable to Obama exclusively.
I'm sorry, I'm a realist liberal. I don't wear blinders. This is why I was one of the few of us who predicted Walker would win the recall vote.
The DU Archives are a great tool, and so is Google.

(33,497 posts)had Romney up by one point and that is a well-known independent Michigan pollster. Rasmussen which is well known to have a GOP tilt had Obama up by 8 in its most recent Michigan poll. I think the best idea of how things are going in Michigan is to look at where the campaigns are spending money. And if Obama begins buying time and paying more attention to Michigan that would be an indication that it probably is close in the state.

(308 posts)It's hard to know what is going on in Michigan right now. Can we really say all these pollsters for Michigan are showing a Republican bias? There appears to be consistency in the sense that Obama is down in Michigan, and Romney is up. We're seeing that in almost all the polls. WeAskAmerica has Romney ahead +2, Baydoun/Foster(D) has Obama ahead only +1, and EPIC-MRA has Romney +1 (although this one does have a pro-Romney history over the past year). The only 'good' poll for Michigan lately has been Rasmussen which showed +8 for Obama. We have to go back to May to find a really good poll (+14 in PPP).
