Meet two of Hillary's liberal billionaire supporters: George Soros and Tom Steyer.

Both made their wealth managing hedge funds. Both have transitioned mainly to philanthropic endeavors. And both hold political views similar to most DUers.

George Soros has been supporting progressive causes all over the world from some time. From anti-apartheid, to democratization in Eastern Europe, to donating to liberal groups in America like moveon, attempting to help defeat Bush, and supporting liberal politicians.

Tom Steyer is more focused on a single issue, the environment. He founded the NextGen PAC, and has contributed both to politicians and to ballot initiatives, focused on trying to get people elected and policies enacted that will fight climate change.

All too often, the mindless Hillary bashing horde decries the "billionaires" supporting Hillary, as if all billionaires are the same as the Koch brothers. To say that all billionaires are conservatives who want to protect the current obscene levels of wealth inequality is like saying that all white people are racists who want to preserve the current state of racial injustice and white privilege. It may be the case that many or most billionaires/white people are like this, but certainly not all. And Soros and Steyer are clearly not part of that category.

One fact that gets lost in the morass of Hillary bashing is that Bernie has rich supporters as well. In fact, of all people, he chose two men worth $150M each to introduce him in his first campaign event in Burlington. Ben and Jerry, from the ice cream company.

No, they're not billionaires, but a $150M net worth puts you far beyond the 1% mark, wealthier than all but the very top executives at Wall Street banks. Does anyone think that the "association" with these uber-rich capitalists is some kind of indication that Bernie is secretly a tool of the oligarchy?

Of course not. Because Ben and Jerry have supported progressive causes their whole lives. As have Hillary's wealthy supporters like Soros and Steyer.

2. Exactly. The fact that wealth inequality is so high doesn't mean that all

wealthy people are bad. In fact a number of them (Warren Buffet is another example) are just as disturbed by income inequality as any other progressive.

That's why it's important to distinguish between the Koch brothers and people like Steyer and Soros.

4. Well, they don't seem bothered by his close relationship with a couple $150M-aires.

Imagine the outrage if Hillary's grand kickoff speech was introduced by a couple uber-rich capitalists!

I haven't heard about people leaving Bernie because of it, or because the billionaire Elon Musk supports Bernie, or because a number of Hollywood one percenters support Bernie.

I think it comes down to: money for Bernie good, money for Hillary bad.

That's what makes defeating the GOP (which means voting for Hillary in the GE) so important.

9. it is clear that Citizens United favors Republicans over Democrats

the influx of billions into the systems can only be curbed via a repeal of Citizens United. A Republican will never go in that direction. Every single one of our Dem candidates would work to create an equal playing field when it comes to campaign financing by removing CU.

And before anyone claims Hillary would not, let me just say that Bush has outraised Hillary"s $45M, by raising $100M...this is just for the Primaries. Cruz has had 6 donors give him a total of $35M. It's obscene and outrageous and unfair. Hillary has lots of incentive to repeal CU
