Poll: Most Florida voters support purge, but not Scott

http://www2.tbo.com/news/breaking-news/2012/jun/20/1/poll-majority-of-florida-voters-support-purge-ar-418231/

TALLAHASSEE --

Florida's election supervisors may have doubts about Gov. Rick Scott's urge to purge the state's voter rolls, but voters are strongly in favor of it.

A poll released Wednesday by Quinnipiac University reported that 60 percent of the state’s registered voters support the governor’s efforts to clear voting rolls of people who aren’t citizens.

The telephone survey of 1,697 people showed that support for the purge varied widely by political party and by race, with 90 percent of Republicans and two-thirds of white voters supporting it.

About 60 percent of Democrats and blacks showed similar disdain for the purge. Hispanics, who turned up on Scott’s purge list in the greatest numbers, are closely split, with 49 percent in favor and 42 opposed.

That's the problem. They're framing the argument so that you can't reasonably argue against it.

'60 percent of the state’s registered voters support the governor’s efforts to clear voting rolls of people who aren’t citizens...'

Who's going to say no to that? It's like asking the question, 'So, have you stopped beating your wife yet?'

Frame it right: Do you support Florida's purge of voters - even if it purges eligible voters?

I bet the number wouldn't be anywhere near 60%.

As you point out, I'm sure the figure would not be near 60% agreeing, but - similar to the health care issue - there are far too many underinformed voters in FL supporting these shenanigans. Yesterday, there was a "person-in-the-street" poll by a local news crew asking about the heath care bill. Virtually every elderly, white responder agreed that it should be overturned by SCOTUS.
I was recently taken ill - after 5 decades of avoiding a hospital stay - no surgery (thankfully), plenty of tests, and 65 hours total in the White Sheet Hotel. $38,500+ please. Fortunately, I'm covered ('cept for the $750 ded).
What happens to people who do not have coverage? They go bankrupt, quickly.

Back to the voting scam. The thugs have framed the argument, along with the poll. Isn't it a good idea to purge "illegal" voters from the rolls? What they don't say, is that the cure is far worse than the disease - which isn't a significant problem to begin with.
It's gotten to the point in this once-great country where some people willingly give up their rights to support their own warped idealogy.
I maintain that if voting was mandatory in this country, and "citizen's united" was overturned, the republican party wouldn't exist.

Why such an odd number? Did they toss results out?

Also, keep in mind that's in a state with over 19,000,000 people.

Why such a small sample?

It's obvious they're trying to create results to use in the media.

Their tactic is to get people to believe their neighbors are all Conservatives so Liberals will shut up and then quit.

I really don't know what to make of Florida anymore. It has turned out to be such a disappointing state in recent years, with a large block of the population who are still right-wingers. You'd think Floridians of all people would realize that the Republicans stole the election in 2000 and should not be allowed to do anything like this again.

Or were they contracted by the Republican Party to do it?

If the first then I guess Quinnipiac does sloppy polls.

Do you approve of throwing legally registered voters off the roles because someone else with a similar name is an immigrant?

I expect they would have gotten a different answer.
