A few observations about the recent brief reappearance of email-gate.

The first thing, obviously, is just how starved the Hillary-bashers are for any kind of material, no matter how weak it is. Even after the NYT backed off of all of the inflammatory claims (the criminal investigation in particular), and it became clear that the only issue is whether some of the emails will be retroactively classified and thus not released to the public, the bashers just can't let it go.

But Hillary bashers clinging to faux scandals is nothing new -- it's actually one of their defining characteristics. The irony here goes beyond that.

First, there is the fact that this came from the NYT which Hillary haters believe is in her pocket, along with the rest of the MSM. Yes, they really do, don't ask me why. If a story like this were published about Bernie, the talk would be all about how Hillary's minions in the media are out to get him.

And then there's the irony that the people who bash Hillary the hardest over this are the same people who expressed the least concern when people like Manning or Snowden intentionally copied huge amounts of highly classified material and leaked it to the public. Obviously, the integrity of government information is not high on the list of priorities for these people. But somehow, when Hillary (entirely within the law) uses a private server (which there is no indication has been hacked) for non-classified communications, this is the end of the world. But, but, there might have been a LEAK! That NEVER happens with government servers! Imagine the CONSEQUENCES!

Then there's the excuse "I'm only worried about this because the GOP will use it against her." Aha, so in addition to a newfound obsession with confidential information, suddenly Hillary bashers also care about electability. Who knew? Maybe look at fundraising potential and GE head-to-head matchups, and also how well the word "socialist" polls. Oh wait, money doesn't matter and polls are biased. Never mind.

And finally, what happened to "let's talk about policy"? When the Hillary bashers were insisting that social issues are divisive and "wedge" and what really matters is the Glass Steagall act (because obviously splitting commercial and investment banking will end police brutality against PoC), there was at least the pretense of a "policy discussion". But this email thing is naked personal hatred. It has no implications whatsoever about a Hillary presidency, policy or otherwise.

Obama's enemies SO wanted that to stick, but everyone saw through it. Even Hillary indulged in that silliness. Thankfully, she's learned a political lesson. But it seems few other people have.
