Clinton Unveils Far-Reaching Climate Change Plan

Clinton Unveils Far-Reaching Climate Change Plan

"SNIP................

DES MOINES — Promising more than a half-billion solar panels by the end of a first term and an ambitious target of clean energy for every home in America in a decade, Hillary Rodham Clinton unveiled goals on Sunday evening to reduce the threat of climate change.

She said she would continue President Obama’s sweeping plan to limit carbon emissions from power plants, and announced targets that even push beyond current goal’s for greenhouse gases.

Mr. Obama’s proposed regulations are expected to be finalized by the Environmental Protection Agency in August, and the real work of making the changes — shutting down coal plans and increasing the number of renewable electricity sources — would fall to the next administration.

The Clinton campaign said the goals, set out on its website in a video, were the first of a six-plank plan to address climate change that Mrs. Clinton would continue to unveil in coming weeks and months.

Martin O'Malley has not only done that, but he has outlined a plan that would enact emissions reductions in line with what scientists say is necessary to slow global climate change—worldwide emissions reductions of 40-70 percent by 2050—and he's the only candidate to do that, too. His plan would phase out fossil-fueled power plants altogether, by midcentury. Along with the USA Today op-ed, he released a white paper further outlining his scheme."

Vivint is offering some sort of a lease plan, but frankly I'm not a huge plan of Vivint. So I'll wait and see if there is something coming that I can use. Very excited to hear the details of the plan.

If Germany can do it, so should we be able to

Climate Change is the one issue if we get it wrong, it doesn't matter how right we are on any other issue.

I personally would like us to do away with oil because environmentally we are screwing everything up even more and I am not just talking emissions.

And there must be a committeemen to not export coal.

Unless those constraints are met then it's not very groundbreaking (and is indeed just merely the policy roadmap as is).
