Let's do something just for fun. Pick your ideal VP for your candidate

Use whatever criteria you want (someone you like, someone who would broaden your candidate's appeal in the general, etc)

Me first. My candidate is Hillary Clinton. My ideal VP at this point would be Julian Castro. He is young and would do well as a rising star as a Veep. His politics are sound. He would broaden her appeal in a few different demographical areas.

So, put yourself in your candidate's shoes. Who do you pick as your running mate?

And lastly, I kindly ask to keep this positive. I intend this to be a fun thread for everyone regardless of who they support for the nomination. I would really prefer not to see it devolve into complaining about our candidates and out thoughts on VP. Thanks.

I admire her directness and intelligence. I don't really believe that the VP choice influences the vote.

Former Mass. Gov. Deval Patrick

Just a thought.

Who I think would have been great, and about the right timing for him,
would have been Jesse Jackson Jr.--
if he only could have avoided getting into trouble...

policy or regional concerns re: the Presidential candidate. They're both Northern progressives with similar policies and Sanders is experienced enough. I'm directing the question at you, but I've seen many float this ticket and I don't understand the thinking behind it, other than liking both.

Hillary/Castro

Julian Castro has had Executive Experience as President Obama's HUD Secretary. I've read that his two terms in office as San Antonio's mayor was "largely symbolic as they have a manager.."

Julian Castro Is in VP Training Camp

Castro was reelected twice as mayor of San Antonio, a largely symbolic position (the city is effectively run by a manager). He wants to leave his mark on HUD, a storied if often troubled department created in 1965 by President Lyndon Johnson to serve American cities and communities. This year is the 50th anniversary of HUD, whose first secretary, Robert Weaver, was the first African-American Cabinet member, “a ground-breaking appointment,” says Castro.

snip//

"When he got the call from Obama about a year ago to assess his interest in HUD, Castro says he saw “a chance to use housing to create opportunity in people’s lives.” He’s about to announce a push for more broadband access into public housing. “If you’re willing to work hard and play by the rules, you should be able to move up,” he says. The most “impactful” work HUD does is working with the FHA to make housing more affordable, he says, “so people in public housing can be upwardly mobile.” Securing loans for people of modest means was “too easy” before the housing bubble burst; “now it’s too hard,” he says"

Democrats could use help in.

If Rubio is the GOP choice at VP, Hillary should go with former L.A. Mayor Villaraigosa perhaps.

If our nominee isn't Clinton, you have two intelligent and likable women anchoring Joe--Dr. Jill and Baldwin.
