Why I'm voting for Hillary

http://www.cnbc.com/2015/07/24/why-hillary-clinton-should-win-the-2016-election-commentary.html

It's simple, Hillary Rodham Clinton, should be president of the United States of America. This became clear to me while reading her 2003 memoir, "Living History."

After finishing the book, I no longer questioned how or why a first lady could run for senator or even president. But rather, I began to understand her quest to tear down the glass ceiling that has "18 million cracks in it." She was never meant to be just a first lady, a role that inherently limits the scope of political influence, but rather she was born to lean in. Here are four reasons you should lean in with her:

She is authentic. "Will the real Hillary Clinton please stand up?" is a question that many are asking. "Show us the real Hillary!" the Washington Beltway is yelling. Well, I counter that this IS the real Hillary. She writes in "Living History," "In high school, I ran for student government president against several boys and lost, which did not surprise me but still hurt, especially because one of my opponents told me I was 'really stupid if I thought a girl could be elected president.'" An ironic foreshadowing of her future, but in 2016 she can rewrite history.

The article is very superficial.

The fact that Hillary is a woman is great. I would love to see a woman as president. I'm a woman myself, and it is about time.

But the talk about how she is authentic because she ran for president of her high school class and lost is pretty superficial as far as I am concerned.

That she was raised middle class but met wealthier people in college? That's not much of a reason to vote for a candidate even if it did make her aware of how other people feel. What is that really supposed to mean, and does anyone question that Hillary knows how other people feel? It isn't whether she knows how other people feel but what she wants to do to improve the way other people feel that matters. What are her specific programs, and to what extent is she willing to offend even her friends in order to make it possible for others to have lives that might make them feel better.

Her wealth is not the problem. It's how and when she gained her now extreme wealth. She wrote some books that sold well, but that's not how she and Bill became so extremely wealthy. She says that she and her husband were going through a tough time money-wise when Bill first left the White House. He had a pension and they had bought a house in a very wealthy area. How did they earn so much money? Just from speeches? Did they get investment tips from people they did favors for while in office? Just asking.

The article left me with the impression that the main reason for supporting Hillary is that she is a woman who has wanted to be elected to president of something all her life and she has had some bad times and some good times.

I read the article hoping to finally find out why people are pro-Hillary, but -- Not at all convincing for this Bernie fan.

I know why I'm for Bernie. I won't go into detail because anybody who reads my posts knows some of my reasons. But there is one basis for my support of Bernie that is just fundamental and that I don't feel with regard to Hillary: I think that Bernie is more concerned about the American people than he is about being president or running a good campaign or anything else other than maybe his family.

However, in your critique of Hillary you left out that she was an excellent Secretary of State and worked tireless to bring back credibility to an office that had been run by republicans for eight years. Before that, she served very well in the Senate and instead of using her name and connections when she was first elected, she buckled down and learned the job well and again was noted as a hard worker that got things done.

I am not voting for her in the primary because I, who have always considered myself a socialist, love Bernie and all he stands for but I do respect the hard work Hillary has done for this country and for women in particular and if she wins the nomination I will certainly be OK with that.

All are valid to the person who has that particular reason. I'm sure you're not alone in having your reason.

If Hillary Clinton is the nominee of the Democratic Party, as I believe she will probably be, she'll have my enthusiastic support, just as any Democratic nominee for President will.

Thanks for posting your reason!
