2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe day Hillary lost to President Obama
You may remember... I cringe even now watching it. Just the first minute. From this day on, the campaign was downhill.
----------------------------
The moral of the story is, people smell fake a mile away. And she reeks of fake, from her choreographed "public" events to her outdated and uninspired platform. That is why Bernie is gaining momentum each and every time he speaks. He doesn't triangulate his "beliefs" based on poll data, doesn't need to "evolve" into doing that everyone already knows is right. He's the real deal. And watch all the Hillary supporters attack what I've posted, and watch them attack across the site and across the web. Watch the Hillary campaign start attacking Bernie. It is then, when they stop ignoring him that you know they're scared.

(10,565 posts)Why don't you just stay focused on being positive about your candidate. When you post an attack piece you will definitely get some blowback which is obviously what you want so you can not only trash the candidate but the supporters as well. Can you post something that doesn't trash Hillary? Didn't think so. I don't think Bernie would approve of your tactics.

(89,252 posts)people know she isn't some great orator . they see her as experienced and highly qualified and in her case "likeable enough" is good enough for them.

(22,651 posts)They both have different styles of speaking. Both have spoken for decades to quite different audiences. I doubt Senator Sanders would make a good SOS, but he would be a good president or VP.

(1,253 posts)She knows it's slipping away. BONUS POINTS for her touching story about offshoring. Seems Candidate Clinton "evolved" from pro-labor to pro-TPP.

(51,574 posts)So what if she did a riff on "Yes We Can" by saying "Yes We Will"? As in, not only CAN we do it, we WILL do it. That simply reflects her hard working "will do" attitude. As far as the things she was saying, she's still saying them now, and so is Bernie. If you keep watching past the first minute, the video shows she genuinely cares about people. She noticed someone in the audience was not doing well in the heat and passed down her water bottle to them from the stage. It was a very human moment (probably why you instructed the readers to watch just the first minute).
This video does not encapsulate why she lost to Obama. She lost to Obama because Obama is a once in a lifetime leader. Even then, she almost beat him. Technically, she got more total votes than Obama.
Another Hillary smear fail.

(9,688 posts)She hired Victoria Nuland, a top Cheney advisor, and as SoS she fine tuned it.
The total lack of *caring* scares the shit out of me.
Please, USA, do not do this.

(9,688 posts)Also, I don't believe your claim that Hillary Clinton was nothing more than a robot, controlled by Obama, who did what she was told and had no input. That story is ridiculous on every single level.
It's beyond lame.

(11,649 posts)to when she was first lady. something about her "rubbed me the wrong way". i'm voting for bernie in the primary, but if she is the nominee she will get my vote. she's better than any republican.
delrem
(9,688 posts)Is it better to have the Democratic party reduced in that extreme way, so it'll reduced even further in future elections?
Even more extreme warmongering, war profiteering, more extreme corporatist control?
I think it'd be better to swallow a loss and rebuild, so at least the future has a hope of having a real opposition.
DesertFlower
(11,649 posts)haven't been able to undo all the damage he did. the repubs running today will do far more damage than he did. i fear we'll never recover if that happens.
in '04 many dems did not like kerry. one was my late husband who refused to vote. i spoke to a lot of people after that election who said they didn't like kerry and felt bush were the lesser of 2 evils. look how well that went.
delrem
(9,688 posts)You now have ISIS.
Some pretend that Bush was alone in causing it, as if there was no continuity up to the present.
But that's a flat out lie.
The Obama admin didn't even TRY to undo the damage that Bush did in the WoT. Pres. Obama called torturers "patriots". At best, it tried to paper it over and hide it with SoS Clinton's "leading from behind" and "Friends of Libya" and "Friends of Syria", using drones and mercenaries and puppet gov'ts directing puppet armies (which also run mercenary armies), claiming that "no US boots on the ground" was sufficient moral justification for the continuing slaughter. Sick. Sick. Sick.
SunSeeker
(51,574 posts)"Leading ftom behind"? Obama caused ISIS? Really?
Worse, you suggest it would be better for Dems if we lose than if Hillary wins. Unfuckingbelievable.
delrem
(9,688 posts)The continuity exists.
The destruction of Libya is fact. The intent to institute "regime change" in Syria is fact.
Deal with it. But don't try to lie yourself out of it.

(8,322 posts)in the Austin Convention Center as she conceded. It was a Saturday afternoon. I saw grown men in blue jean overalls and Cat Diesel Power caps with tears running down their face.
The next day, at the general assembly of delegates, I saw two people from a Deep East Texas Senate district wearing black T-shirts with NOBAMA on the back. That was a first.
Those folks are going to be real mad all over again if Hillary chokes a second time.

(67,782 posts)....and hopefully when Senator Sanders loses to Candidate Clinton he'll be as loyal to the person who defeats him as she has been to the person who defeated her.
For some reason I don't think that will be the case.
