New Michigan poll has Obama up by 2-points (rounded)

President Obama’s Michigan lead has deterior ated into a dead heat with Republican nominee Mitt Romney. President Obama leads former Governor Romneywith a scant 1.41 point margin, 46.89% to 45.48%. Michigan was considered solidlyDemocrat, but based on the feedback from Michigan respondents, Michigan will likely be a very competitive state.

Foster McCollum White & Associates, a Political and Governmental Affairs andOrganizational Development consulting firm based in Troy Michigan and BaydounConsulting, a
political communications consulting firm based in Dearborn, Michiganconducted a telephone-automated polling random survey of Michigan registered and mostlikely November 2012 general election voters to determine their voting and issue preferences on the issues of presidential preference, collective bargaining rights support, the Public Act 4 (Emergency Financial Manager Law) ballot initiative and the impact of Democratic Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano’s FBI investigation and criminalindictments on President Obama and Democratic candidates on the Michigan November ballot. This ten question automated poll survey was conducted on the evening of June12, 2012 between the hours of 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm. The margin of error for this pollingsample is 2.32% with a confidence level of 95%.

"The past week for President Obama was hurtful to his number s”, per Eric Foster, chief pollster and President of Foster McCollum White & Associates.“The campaign isvery fluid, but the President’s campaign may want to shift its focus towards presentingmore of a business case narrative of why voters should re-elect President Obama”

never heard of this pollster, so don't know how accurate it is, except, of course, the media will point to it as the second straight poll showing a close race in Michigan.

Either way, I'm not sure running on a pro-bailout policy helps.

Again, I find it very hard to believe that Michigan would go from solidly blue to a toss up in just two weeks. We've been hammered with ads here from Rove, but I don't think they would have that much of an impact, especially considering they've been here since the beginning of the year.

This one is probably another slight outlier. I'm gonna wait until a credible pollster ive heard of comes out with a poll before I get concerned.

And it's worse that we're around 47% than that it's a one-point race.

But it's still just one data point. PPP's poll there just a couple weeks ago gave us a 53-39 lead.

On edit - Hmmm... but I just found a new EPIC poll that's as bad (one point deficit, but in a smaller LV poll rather than this one being RV)

PPP's was probably an outlier, too, in that it showed a lead for Obama that was bigger than it actually was. But every other poll besides this new one and the EPIC poll had Obama with a sizable and comfortable lead in Michigan. How did it change that quickly?

Also, the EPIC polls have been better for Romney than any other pollster in Michigan, for what's that worth.

I guess I'll just wait for another poll or two to see if this is a trend or just a couple outliers in a row.

I can care less about this poll. The Media likes them because they help build up their ratings. CNN will call this poll "breaking news" . The more they make Romney out to be some champion for the right the more money they get through ads. The reason I'm voting for Obama has nothing to do with some dumb talking head pimping a poll. Who are they polling anyway?? .It's definitely not me.
