Related: About this forumAlex Bennett: The Democrats should have listened to me I predicted this recall was a BAD idea
And Walker would win because for the most part people don't like recalls and now you dumb fucks are weakened because you didn't think about the consequences of Walker expanding his 2010 numbers. My take on Alex Bennett is pure asshole

(6,960 posts)I don't have Sirius -- I listen and now watch Bill Press every weekday morning.
But like this Bennett fellow there are an awful lot of folks even here at DU now saying "Oh, actually this recall was a bad idea in the first place."
Funny how fast people can spin around.
It is also interesting how many people here were talking about how significant it would be if the recalled succeeded ... who are now saying that Walker's victory is meaningless and unimportant.

(34,857 posts)It was an uphill battle from the start. Recalls are so rare and so divisive that it is a huge risk to push forward with one. I think the Democrats probably bit off a bit more than they could chew on this one and we were once again humiliated on the national scene.
Worse, this only emboldens Walker. It gives him momentum and now he can push forward when, really, he was becoming so toxic even without the recall that he probably would've done himself in politically anyway. He was a sitting duck heading into 2014 and while I believe he still is, especially if he's indicted, there's something to be gained out of winning a recall.
But who knows. I'm not a resident of Wisconsin, so, I don't have a say. But I think the headwinds were against Democrats on this one and they once again handed Republicans a victory that wasn't necessary.
