2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI'll be happy when the primaries are over.
Really not a big fan of the eating our own portion of the program.
That's all.

(7,576 posts)I am so sick of the bashing each side does to the other....I will be happy when we actually have a nominee and hopefully we can come together as one...right now I see the positives and negatives of all of the candidates......I will support whomever the nominee is whomever it is....

(17,110 posts)I'm skipping over the dreadful attack stuff posted by those who promote rancor. Spew it at the Republicans.

(67,406 posts)getting more senators and house seats as well. which of the three can deliver on that account
TDale313
(7,820 posts)Hopefully we can pick up seats in the House, although with the Gerrymandering Repubs have done in Red/Purple states retaking will be tough before the 2020 census/redrawing of the Congessional maps. But hopefully we can at the very least make some gains.

(153,160 posts)Damn, yes. No magical mystery tour in our immediate futures. With a country this large, (and fucked so many times over by the right) the wheels of justice move slowly. We do cleanup. We've gained a lot through the Obama presidency. Building on what we have gained is the only reasonable path to solid permanent solutions and change.
It's easy to destroy everything good, practically overnight, when criminals are in charge. It is time to take on 8 more years of slow but steady growth - something the public hasn't seen, at least in my lifetime.

(2,975 posts)and here here and there too. I've had enough of the sniping and snapping teeth between all of us on MYRIAD things.

(81,272 posts)Totally agree. Can't wait til it's over. I can't wait til the whole frickin' election is over!
Btw - nicely put, TDale313!
"Really not a big fan of the eating our own portion of the program." Cast that one in bronze, my friend.

(53,032 posts)That a certain segment don't see me--or many, many Americans--as their own. So I suppose human nature is such that I reciprocate that sentiment. I don't see that changing after the primaries are over.

(34,582 posts)as well as GD : P (your title lured me). I am already tired of the bullshit. I know most supporters are ok, but a vocal minority is annoying as hell.

(146,314 posts)I find that I"m not posting in the GD Primary forum much at all. I'm not seeing a lot of discussion here, frankly, so I'm off to other places on DU most of the time.
I'm supporting Bernie Sanders right now. If he's the nominee, I'll continue supporting him. If not, I'll be supporting whoever is the Democratic nominee for President.
I'm a Democrat first, and a supporter of particular primary candidates second. So, we'll see who ends up as the nominee. I can support any Democrat who gets the nomination with the same enthusiasm, frankly.

(14,524 posts)If you hate the primaries so much, why are you posting on the forum specifically designated for them?
TDale313
(7,820 posts)But I'll give you one anyway. I don't hate the primaries- I don't hate getting to hear about/from the candidates. I don't particularly like the nastiness and infighting that tends to come with it. I could just trash the whole forum, but there'd be stuff that I'd miss out on that I don't care to miss out on. And it is probably futile to wish we could be a little nicer to each other, but I do anyway.

(13,685 posts)That's why I had to offer some advice to those who go to extremes. Some claimed it was a threat, but it was merely an observation that being nasty has repercussions.
I'm not a fan of juries...... but...... after a few hides people think twice about nasty posts. Heh, been there, done that got a few hides, so I do have some experience.

(7,820 posts)We have a presumptive nominee, which is often when some of the worst infighting tends to ease up.

(36,926 posts)Even after the contender has conceded and endorsed the other candidate.
Please don't tell me we're going to have to put up with that crap again.

(36,926 posts)Don't think it will be tolerated long on DU though.

(1,238 posts)But I think most of us will end up voting for whoever the nominee is, no matter how much we disagree and are hostile to each other now, no one wants a Republican in the White House.
TDale313
(7,820 posts)And the debates and disagreements are all part of the deal. I just wish things didn't have to get so nasty so quick among the supporters. Wishful thinking, but there ya go 😀
