(13,685 posts)It was not a campaign item, it was a direct attack on republicans only.
DU sure has it's knickers in a twist over Bernie and desires to limit his reach.

(1,819 posts)It seems the Democratic primary is the one that must protected. The home page is covered with donald trump and I haven't seen one of those closed. I think it is bullshit.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)You will attract the wrath of some here who love to eat newbies.
Especially the roflmao posters.
abakan
(1,819 posts)I not sure what the second sentence means, but thanks anyway.
I wanted to add this:
I'm not as new as you might think. I have been here since 2013. I don't post much because, I tire of the ugliness that comes from the people of which you speak. I read and comment from time to time, but I have found posting to be wholly unsatisfactory. I have no time for faceless, nameless, bullies who act as if they are the final word on any subject.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)Was in reference to the replies which consist of the roflmao and usually nothing else. Be careful of them for they love to bait good solid democrats like yourself.

(1,054 posts)It's safe to assume that someone who attacks a low post count instead of the argument is not only not worth worrying about but probably a troll or an infiltrator. Yeah, someone with under 10 posts throwing a grenade, heat; someone sniveling about a low post count instead of addressing the argument of a 50 post poster - should be booted, tombstoned and branded a Republican.
Bernie:
the first time in my 54 year old life I will be able to vote for a TRUE Democrat instead of a corporatist shill.
abakan
(1,819 posts)I think when some see a low post count, they automatically think the person is new. Not that, they aren't particularly chatty.
It cause me no distress.
I'm 63 and I am registering as a Democrat, for the first time, after a lifetime of being Independent. This is the first time voting in the primary is important, to me. Ordinarily I would just wait for the general election and vote the Democrat ticket. This time it matters, there is a real person running.
Personally I feel the relative newbie is someone who hasnt used Archie, Veronica, or a Gopher before Al invented the www internets; not post counts

Gopher just blew me away when I first saw it.

(67,782 posts)In my mind the moderators have been TOO "liberal" in putting up with the flood of Sanders threads that show up on the home page because of the cadre of "DU REC-ers"
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)Do Bernie supporters make you sad and angry and frustrated?
George II
(67,782 posts)When did I say I "hated" Sanders' recs?
Here's a question you already dodged once today - have you stopped beating your wife?
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)You just have a problem with TOO liberal free speech.
George II

(13,685 posts)Here it is:
"In my mind the moderators have been TOO "liberal"....."
George II
(67,782 posts)RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)It appears to me, to belabor this point, that you feel put upon by too many Bernie recs.
But please, proceed to finish your thought. I'd really like to read what you have to say about "In my mind the moderators have been TOO "liberal""
George II
(67,782 posts)...what that might be) and step away from the psychoanalysis. You're terrible at that.
And nice job posting the FIRST half of a sentence of mine to try to make me look bad, leaving off the second half of the sentence. Entirely disingenuous, but that's been your M. O. since you started stalking my posts. Over the years I've seen a few people pull tricks like that, and not surprisingly they've all been conservatives.
Quite honestly, I don't give a shit.....have a good day.
chknltl
(10,558 posts)Um....one would think if 90% of a forum was for something, a whole bunch of KnRs by the members of that forum would wind up supporting it.

(1,819 posts)As long as they are not democratic candidates, they are allowed all over the site. Donald Trump has been on the home page for the last five days. I see it as a double standard.

(78,249 posts)as I learned when my thread on one of the repukes got locked there.
edit: It never occurred to me until now that its creation might be a way for the pro-Hillary admins to herd the many Bernie supporters into a corral, but it sounds plausible.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)And it was a direct attack on republicans.
Don't even tell me you don't like to see republicans attacked. That would not be wise. Many people have blocked this forum, and others who just read DU..GD would have seen that great statement, and now they won't. Does that make you happy?
George II
(67,782 posts)"Don't even tell me you don't like to see republicans attacked."
"GD would have seen that great statement, and now they won't. Does that make you happy?"
...almost as silly as this yes/no question I'm going to ask you: have you stopped beating your wife?
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)That's too bad. Doesn't look good for your candidate to have supporters who are in favor of censoring statements against republicans. You should thinkaboutit.
George II
(67,782 posts)You've read the statement, I've read the statement, everyone commenting here AND many others have read the statement. It hasn't been censored, it's just been put in the correct forum.
Take it up with the moderators, don't insult me with your presumptive and dismissive characterizations of me.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)Sorry you are so upset and angry. I apologize for pissing you off, george.
But limiting free speech is not something I take lightly. As I said, had it been a campaign statement I would be fine with the censoring. But it was an attack on republicans only, therefore I say spread it far and wide; no censors needed.
abakan
(1,819 posts)I agree... I hate double standards. When I posted it I didn't even know I was doing anything more than posting something I felt was hitting the repubs with a dose of the truth. Primaries were not a thought. I am anti-Republicians not anti-Democrats no matter who they are.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)For a long time there was but one candidate for the past 8 years, and now Bernie has shown up and now those supporters feel cornered by his campaign. Therefore they are lashing out. I suggest we go easy on them, but be firm. They will come around, and then posts about attacking republicans will again be allowed anywhere and everywhere.

Way, way behind.
George II
(67,782 posts)...to suit their agenda.
The fact remains that what Sanders said IS on this site and many have read and commented upon it. Free speech hasn't been limited - and where's the censorship? (and don't dodge with another inane comment, please)
Would you feel the same way if it was originally posted in "Recreation" or "Sports" and was locked?
As I suggested to the OP, I suggest you read up on the rationale behind the creation of the "General Discussion: Primaries" forum. Maybe you'd understand better.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)I guess you are in favor of banning the word 'Hillary' from being posted in GD?
Sure seems you want Bernie banned.
George II
(67,782 posts)......you've demonstrated a talent for asking stupidly loaded questions.
I think I'm going to do something I've never done before on this site in the ten years I've been here.

RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)I think that as long as an OP is not campaign directed, quotes of Hillary attacking republicans should be allowed.

Else we'd have two General Discussion chats overwhelmed with election chat and no place to discuss everything else going on in the world.
Some of us aren't 100% into the primaries just yet and like to go to a General Discussion for other issues
But great post and a K&R from me!

I know the feeling - once - a long time ago - I got over 400 reqs becouse of a longer writing about my experience with Universal Health care - and it was even bad written, with more grammatical faults than the San-Andrea fault.... I had been really sick with pneumonia - kidney problems and a lot of other problems at the same time.. In the US I would either had been dead - or dreaded with more debt that I would ever be able to repay - in my native country - I was in hospital for 3 weeks - get well enough to get home - and had no debt to pay back - even if the medical needs had been intensive to say it least..

I don't think Bernie will be doing that when he is in the WH. He won't be compromising with bullies.
