http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/06/04/louisiana-gop-spirals-into-chaos-as-ron-paul-delegates-injured-arrested/Several supporters of Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) sustained injuries while being arrested during the Louisiana Republican Partys state convention over the weekend, in a conflict that engulfed the meeting after Pauls supporters overwhelmed other delegates and voted in new leadership, only to be ignored.
Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) won the Louisiana primary and received 10 delegates, while former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) took second, earning five delegates along with it. Paul finished fourth in the primary, behind former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA), but his supporters dominated the states caucusing process in April, meaning he stood to gain as many as 30 delegates at the state convention.
And with an audience widely stacked in his favor on Saturday, it seemed likely that Paul would again emerge from a state convention the unexpected victor That is, until the LAGOP chairman turned the process on its head.
Paul delegates moved to request more information on the chairmans decision, but he continued as if they werent present. So, they decided then and there to elect a new chairman, picking state central committeeman Henry Herford Jr., a Paul supporter, to lead the party.

This might be something to watch.
It would be better than wrestling or Jerry Springer.

(111,339 posts)that will bear fruit in 2016, especially if Romney gets whipped to the extent McCain was, by an electoral landslide. Each faction will be battling the other for supremacy, each devil the party made a deal with to get votes from the stupid and the insane deciding it's time to take over.
So yeah, this will be fun to watch, although I doubt any of the good stuff will happen on camera besides procedural votes that most of the boneheads on the floor won't understand. The show on stage will be choreographed. However, we might be able to spot arm twisting and bribes on the edge of the crowd.

(17,064 posts)The Paulites have been steadily amassing delegates at the state conventions. Probably not a majority, but certainly enough to cause a ruckus. Establishment GOP will likely ignore them, if not completely throw them under the bus. Certainly the GOP will come out of the convention more divided, not more united. And everyone will be packing during the heat and humidity of August. Add in long bus rides to and from the convention for half the delegates, a few busts for lap dances at the Mons Venus, and the potential for a hurricane, and we are looking at a real entertaing week of circus clowns.
