"FIRST ON CNN: SANDERS SNAGS KEY ENDORSEMENT IN NEW HAMPSHIRE"
by Cassie Spodak, Updated 9:41 AM ET, Sat. July 4, 2015, Video Source CNN
Wolfeboro, New Hampshire (CNN)- Sen. Bernie Sanders has snagged a key endorsement in New Hampshire that may sting a little for Martin O'Malley's campaign.
Longtime New Hampshire Democratic activist Dudley Dudley told CNN Friday that she has decided to endorse Bernie Sanders for the Democratic 2016 nomination. Her decision comes less than 2 months after she hosted O'Malley at both her Durham, New Hampshire houses.
Since then, according to a recent CNN/WMUR New Hampshire primary poll, front runner Hillary Clinton's lead over Sanders has shrunk from 38 percentage points to 8, with O'Malley trailing both.
Likely Democratic primary voters are now apt to see Sanders as the candidate who "best represents the values of Democrats like yourself" the poll found.
Sanders recently finished a two-day swing through the state (NH) that saw 500-person crowds and high attendance at more intimate house parties.
Dudley told CNN she was won over by Sanders focus on money in politics, but was particularly impressed by his style of delivering his message.
*"He's very believable. A lot of people seem to say a lot of things that don't come to pass. I feel that he is compelling and trustworthy and I'm hoping he will get the nomination," Dudley told CNN. "I particularly like what he has to say about Citizens United, about the need to have a more just tax system in this country, and to even out income inequality. He has a way of stating it in a way that is no nonsense and so straight forward."
Sanders campaign spokesperson Michael Briggs told CNN, "We are very grateful and appreciate the support from such a key figure in New Hampshire."

(52 posts)His endorsement is like getting one from a fifth-tier DLC-drone, which is what Shumlin is.
Bernie, on the other hand, is very much well-liked and has a consistent high ratings from his constituents of Vermont, because he takes the time to talk to them, meet with them, and focus on the issues that's really bothering America, not some 1%'er.
I know Dean endorsed Hillary, and I believe that was a very premature endorsement, and I expect him to switch shortly after Bernie secures the requirement for the nomination after the primaries are done.

(9,214 posts)the opinions of anyone from a pipsqueak state like Vermont isn't worthy of consideration.
But as far as I'm concerned his 71% reelection percentage says much more then the governor can.
Do you think Bernie may lose Vermont in the primary or general election? Should I start worrying now?

(59,504 posts)If you really wanted to make your point two Burlington area former governors. Dean and Madelyn Kunin back HRC.
However, it will come down to the candidates. Note that an endorsement of anyone but HRC means more than one for her. The reason is that at best an endorsement of someone you respect may make you at least consider someone you might not have looked at. Every Democrat knows HRC extremely well for a quarter of a century!

(10,558 posts)Are they trying to get folks to watch them or something? Well good on them for noticing! Let me be the first to predict that CNN's ratings will increase along with their coverage of the Sanders campaign. (Well that is should they actually choose to increase their coverage of his campaign). Sanders is the populist candidate, people watching are the ones who make ratings...anotherwords this prediction isn't exactly due to any paranormal abilities on my part.

(10,558 posts)Let me add in a little background context here. I am a fan of the Thom Hartmann Show. The day prior to Bernie's big showing in Wisconsin Thom was saying that because Senator Sanders was a "Washington Outsider", he would garner little to no attention for his campaign from the mainstream media, that this lack of attention was deliberate.
During the first segment of the Hartmann show after Bernie pulled those two huge crowds in Wisconsin (Madison and Rochester the next morning), Thom made a point of searching for mainstream reporting of these events and found hardly any mention. He further pointed out that had ANY of the Republican contenders or Hillary Clinton pulled in a crowd like Madison it would have been 'stop-the-presses' and widely reported by the MSM.
The day after hearing Thom talk about this I was having breakfast in my favorite restaurant, (frequented by tourists passing through and regulars who are mostly conservatives), the TV was turned to CNN and I was quite pleased to see that they were talking about Bernie's big gig in Wisconsin. (If only the volume had been up loud enough to hear what they had to say!) I recall making a mental note that I should post something about this to Thom's forum.
Yesterday morning I was having breakfast at that same place and CNN was on again, (btw that TV is 90% of the time tuned to FOX). Once more Bernie's face was on the screen! Yet again volume too low to hear (argh!) but folks stopped eating and looked up to see Senator Sanders while he was on. This leads me to suspect two things, first that folks are taking an interest in Senator Sanders and second that CNN is taking an interest in Senator Sanders in order to improve their ratings. That Ad you've just shown me reinforces my second suspicion. The fact that CNN has been low on the MSM ratings totem pole for a long while further fuels my suspicion.
Further discussion on my thinking would make for an interesting subthread but I fear it would risk a topic hijack so let me end by saying that I am VERY pleased that CNN has chosen to go down this road.

(15,480 posts)Doesn't have to be kept at a safe distance like Bill. I can't think of any other presidential candidate whose spouse has ever had to be kept out of the picture. Compare HRC's where-in-the-world-is-Bill campaign with Bill's you-get-two-for-the-price-of-one campaigns.

MARRAKESH, Morocco The scene that unfolded here last week as Bill Clinton convened world leaders for a philanthropic conference was hardly what his wifes champion-for-everyday-Americans campaign would have ordered up.
Gathered in Marrakesh for a Clinton Global Initiative confab, foreign oligarchs and corporate titans mingled amid palm trees, decorative pools and dazzling tiled courtyards with the former president and his traveling delegation of foundation donors many of whom are also donors to Hillary Rodham Clintons presidential campaign.
When daughter Chelsea moderated a discussion on womens empowerment, the only male panelist was Moroccos richest person, Othman Benjelloun, whose BMCE Bank is a CGI sponsor. For the weeks biggest party, guests were chauffeured across the city to an opulent 56-room palace that boasts a private collection of Arabian horses, overlooks the snow-capped Atlas Mountains and serves a fine-dining menu of biolight cuisine. Ahead of that event, Bill Clinton greeted Saudi Prince Turki al-Faisal. See you tonight, Turki, he told his royal highness.
It was a long way from Hillary Clintons campaign-trail visits to Chipotle. The luxe week in Morocco highlighted the overarching question facing the Clintons and their coexisting circles of political advisers: What to do with Bill? One afternoon in April, Bill Clinton looked up at a television in his midtown Manhattan office and saw the grainy security-camera photo of his wife and her aide, Huma Abedin, at a Chipotle in Ohio, appearing incognito in dark sunglasses. He turned to aides and wondered, What are she and Huma doing? Are they robbing that place?

(41,161 posts)wonderful, like the Bidens and others. Jane Sanders, Bernie's wife of 27 years is an accomplished woman in her own right and as Sen. Sanders has said, "Yes, she is a soulmate, a sounding board". That kind of genuine attachment, love and closeness is truly refreshing, rare and inspiring to see.
