In speech to nation’s mayors, O’Malley calls for removal of Confederate flag in South Carolina

Democratic presidential hopeful Martin O’Malley called on South Carolina leaders Sunday to remove the Confederate battle flag from their capitol grounds and urged Congress to move forward with “common-sense” gun-control measures in the wake of last week’s church shootings in Charleston.

The comments from O’Malley, a former Maryland governor, came during an appearance in San Francisco at a meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. O’Malley, a former mayor of Baltimore, pledged that he would “rebuild the heart of America’s cities” if elected and noted that it had been 86 years since a U.S. mayor had served as president ...

2. Did he do anything to change the Maryland state song?

It calls Lincoln a tyrant and Northerners "scum".

Not to mention "sic semper", which is what Booth shouted when he assassinated Lincoln.

3. I haven't heard that he did. He DID do this:

1. Ended death penalty in Maryland
2. Prevented fracking in Maryland and put regulations in the way to prevent next GOP Gov Hogan fom easily allowing fracking.
3. Provided health insurance for 380,000
4. Reduced infant mortality to an all time low.
5. Provided meals to thousands of hungry children and moved toward a goal for eradicating childhood hunger.
6. Enacted a $10.10 living wage and a $11. minimum wage for State workers.
7. Supporter the Dream Act
8. Cut income taxes for 86% of Marylanders (raised taxes on the rich).
9. Reformed Maryland’s tax code to make it more progressive.
10. Enacted some of the nation’s most comprehensive reforms to protect homeowners from foreclosure.

Mother Jones magazine called him the best candidate on environmental issues.

4. Feels like he's late and posturing here. If he wants to get noticed he needs to get out early on an

issue. He should call for stricter gun laws using those exact terms because the guns nuts will never vote dem anyway.
