But there's still lots of great restaurants. I'm from the northern burbs, would love to meet fellow DU'ers in Center City next summer.

Perhaps Valley Forge would be an appropriate place to meet. Closer for you anyway.

are very basic, not grand but high quality. It's two stories, galleries are spaced well, easy to navigate with nice wood floors, simple décor, ample facilities & an excellent museum shop. You'll love the art, the Matisses, Picassos, Renoirs, Modiglianis, Cezannes, Van Goghs, African pieces & Pa. craftworks. Albert Barnes was a discerning collector, lucky for us.

The DNC treasurer told me that if you've been to one of these things, you never need to go to another one, but I met SO many friends there in Denver, it was quite an event. Hotel rooms are probably already $1000 a night, so I'd probably have to stay with friends outside of town, and the commute would get messy.

2012 was a foregone conclusion, but 2008 was pretty exciting.

Our rooms will probably be cheaper, we have great beers and Dogfish Head beer and the Joe Biden Amtrak station is right downtown with a 30 minute SEPTA train ride into the city.

I just saw when the convention will be. It is right in the middle of my summer vacation. That is one of the two times a year when I get some genuine down time, and all four of my immediate family are together in the same place. I don't care if they're nominating ME, I'm not giving up my summer vacation even for that.

*On edit--by the way, I HATE beer!

Sounds a little like "Newfoundland Screech," which a native Newfie warned me to steer way clear of.
