Mike Huckabee came to peddle his book about the Red State/Blue State divide. Jon Stewart treated him to an embarrassing reality detailing his hypocrisy.

(3,088 posts)the way Huckabee talks about Beyonce, I'd have something to say about it. I'm kind of surprised Jay Z hasn't made a statement, or proferred a knuckle sandwich.

(7,365 posts)Hypocrisy is hypocrisy and no racial dog whistle is needed. Stewart stuck with point instead of interjecting conjecture into the mix. You can only assume Huck doesn't like Beyonce' because of race, you can't prove it. But we CAN prove what a hypocritical tool he is by showing him singing a song about getting crabs by having sex when you are 10 years old.
Race doesn't need to be interjected into everything.

we like to pretend race does not exist because most of us are not the targets of racism.

(36,095 posts)can't be the ones in a "bubble;" only a minority. He's making the point that reality, even if it's made by limbaughs, hannities, foxies, churches, et. al., is made by consensus, and that flyover country people are more 'real' by numbers alone than are the 40% who want facts, science, education and secularism. His implication is that flyover will prevail because they have the numbers.
I think the idea of being in a 'bubble' is actually more important to Huckabee's voting constituents than is the hypocrisy jab to Stewart's liberal crowd. While Stewart jabbed Huckabee for hypocrisy, Huckabee defined his whole voting demographic's mindset.
We can laugh at what Stewart brought up, but I could tell that Stewart wasn't really listening to Huckabee's point about what I think is a more troubling form of identity politics -- groupthink.
