2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumRick Santorum rears his ugly head again
Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.), whos reportedly gearing up for another Republican presidential campaign, told a right-wing audience this week that the words separation of church and state is not in the U.S. Constitution, but it was in the constitution of the former Soviet Union. Thats where it very, very comfortably sat, not in ours.
My response to this asshole is that it was not nearly as comfortable as Hitler would have been in the Vatican.

(12,608 posts)tell the and place their hands on a bible. or have the president get sworn in by using the bible. whats good for the goose.
He keeps up with his BS .... maybe he should start listening to his, "Infallible" Pope, telling his faithful flock and the church to get out of politics .... except for measures that help the poor. Maybe he should be denied the Sacrament of Communion, or be Excommunicated for disobeying the Church's teachings. The Pope needs to get on this! Get these sidewinder Catholics in line.

"Innocent until proven guilty"
"Jury of your peers"
"Electoral College"
"Right to a fair trail"
But, "Frothy", you want to know something that IS in the Constitution? In fact the Framers thought it was so critically important they began the Second Amendment with it ...
"A well regulated militia ..."
Why do you radical right-wingers always just want to quote the second half of the Second?

(18,421 posts)I've heard of separation of church and state before... His name... Eh... Let me Google it.... Ohhhh damn! I guess he must be very frothy... Or perhaps things aren't true just because their written somewhere... And perhaps then the opposite is also true. Maybe some things can be true without using those exact words... Right?

The actual words, "Thou shalt be a dickhead" aren't in the Bible either, but that doesn't stop you from being one.

(1,681 posts)This is the type of repuke we should hope gets nominated. The further ahead he gets into the pack, the rest will have to follow & imitate just to keep up. A more toxic tool we could never hope for.
