https://pollways.bangordailynews.com/2014/10/29/maine-politics/angus-king-endorsed-michaud-how-much-does-it-matter/Big news in the Maine 3-way gov. race where we are trying to oust the looney-bin TeaBagger Paul Lepage. The danger has been moderate Indy Eliot Cutler taking just enough from the Dem Mike Michaud to throw it to LePage. In fact, the national GOP is spending money on ads touting Cutler and attacking Michaud, a very sleazy thing. Polls have the race deadlocked with Cutler way down. Pressure has been mounting for Cutler to bow out. Today Cutler held a news conference essentially releasing his voters (but saying he was technically staying in although he has gone dark on tv and pretty much pulled up stakes - so it was kind of a muddled position)
and saying they could vote for whom they pleased. Recent polls indicate movement from Cutler to Michaud, the majority of whom favor Michaud as the second choice.
So, popular Indy Sen. Angus King, also a former governor, switched his endorsement from Cutler to Michaud. We are working GOTV hard and hoping more and more Culter voters will shift to Michaud. Cutler has been way down around 15% with no party backing and no organization.
So, this race comes down to TURNOUT TURNOUT TURNOUT and the number of D-leaning Cutler supporters who move to Michaud. For outside big name help, Michaud has had both Clintons (I saw Hillary who was great), Michelle Obama, and tomorrow the President who is coming in for a GOTV rally in Portland. We are working the ground hard, racking up other endorsements, and trying to get rid of the scourge that is LePage. However, his base is motivated, like the R base in general this year, and they will be out voting. So our low propensity voters need to GET OUT AND VOTE !! (Not just in Maine, but EVERYWHERE. We MUST NOT sit at home. PLEASE GO VOTE AND TAKE SOME FRIENDS WITH YOU !!)
