3. There is no arms race here. This is slaughtering the unarmed and occupation of the oppressed

Mortars, armed and armored vehicles, and sound weapons are not some ratcheting up of some arms race, there are no decades of increased technological armament for civilians and to pretend that is so only wipes the asses and makes excuses for a racist institution with a toxic culture that sees their communities as subordinate, lesser, as the enemy, and often as animals and savages.

Meanwhile, when faced with the hardware they are theorized to be in mortal fear, Jack apple shit. Maybe some thumbs up. Maybe go home with their tails between their legs as not to "light a powder keg". You know as long as it is white, right wing nut jobs ***err...patriots***.

No, what has happened is they were always a rogue element but in yesteryear they were often much more constrained in dealing with people in general. They used to have to have some reason to pull people over. They weren't busting down doors. They used to need more warrants. They weren't in contests for huge dollars and have to "justify" gargantuan budgets and so many staff. They weren't feeding a hungry private prison system. There weren't so many damn goodies to be had. Forfeiture laws did not provide such perverse incentives. Gangs were not so well financed or desperate to control so much flow. What there was before is almost completely vice law powered, always is.

The drug war is the biggest stress point and anti terror efforts threaten in similar ways but if folks have direct institutional remedies than start there but this is rationalizing, the poor police are just a victim of a vicious cycle but that is not at all what this is about, this is about occupation and subjection.

This is about gunning down "savages" and "animals".

This is about whole peoples seen as less than human based on the color of their skin and the contents of their accounts.

This is about "Do what I say or I'm going bust your head open".

This is about arresting journalist and gassing peaceful demonstrators.

This is about the Blue Wall.

This is about robbing poor and working folks at gunpoint under the blessing of the law.

This is about covering up and blaming the victim.

This is about an inept good old boys network.

This is about stormtroopers in our streets, a terroristic gang tormenting and striking fear into those they are supposed to protect and serve.

This is about no representation.

This is about failed systems and corrupt institutions.

This is about self serving lies and propaganda fed into our heads from the cradle to make a nation of Stockholm Syndrome sufferers.

This is about control.

This is about our lives as subjects and disposable consumers means shit.

WAKE UP!

4. This is also what happens when

police forces are fearful...of many things...some irrational some not, including fear of a populace with access to AK47s among other automatic weapons, due to lack of any sensible gun regulation.

It's a ramping up, weapon for weapon - like any other garden variety arms race.

5. You insist on giving the police as an institution a pass and excuse kids gunned down

I don't get this. You assert there are some flood of automatic weapons, that is false.

You state that there is some arms race and this is fantasy. There are no new classes of civilian weapons, semi automatics have been available for decades.

Anything to avoid admitting police are militarized well beyond any reason, that we are dealing with an out of control and racist institution, that we have a toxic situation were cops see themselves as separate and above citizens and the law they enforce, that the police have been tasked with a mission that puts them at odds with their communities making us the enemy and driving civilian distrust that negates essential rights in the pursuit of said mission, that police close ranks and protect themselves no matter what.

We have real problems with police that are deep and institutional and now they are outfitted for occupation and you are whistling past the fucking graveyard here. There is no justification for armed armored vehicles, mortars, and sound weapons in our streets and no ramping up in our communities caused any such response, it is a lie.

It doesn't have to be all or nothing. "You're with me or your're against me."

Can you live with that?
