2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhy is the Colorado Senate race so close??
Why is Udall in the fight of his life against Gardner, a far-rightie, in a state that has been trending blue for the past several election cycles? I don't get it.

(2,186 posts)Your side constantly underestimates and ridicules gun owners, yet it's your side of the coin that can't get any meaningful gun control laws passed in the Congress, so, who's dumber than dirt?

Gardner (sad to say, House Rep for my district) is re-inventing himself as someone who can reach across the aisle to get things done. Nothing in his voting record supports that, but he's walked away from his most divisive votes (sponsoring the personhood ballot measure that lost by 67-33), and the Colorado media is letting it slide. If Udall lets Gardner's rank hypocrisy stand through the election, he'll get beat.
Looking at the commercials, it's a wonder I haven't thrown a brick through my TV yet...

(2,012 posts)for the gun guys, though he's always owned guns and hunts, he voted for one sensible gun control law
for all the Christian fundamentalists like Focus on the Family though he's always been a Mormon
for Big Oil, Coal and Gas though he has always backed them
for the wardrum beaters and retired military in Colorado Springs though he has voted for all defense bills
for the Coloradans who care more about their billions of profits in fossil fuels than about our beautiful state; he often votes for the environment, in our state and nation.
for the Repugs who want Colorado to be more like Texas; Udall votes for health, education, and the welfare of all his constituents
Just like many other states. It isn't easy being purple (or green)
