Why Eric Cantor really resigned....

http://www.politico.com/story/2014/08/eric-cantor-resigned-109659.html?hp=t1

Although members can explore new job opportunities while still in office, his departure from Congress means that Cantor won’t have to disclose any companies or firms with whom he may be negotiating for a job.

Corrupt SOB. The ironic thing is he lost because he focused more on money than anything else.

My favorite portion:

“Eric is a doer — there’s not a lot to do,” said a former Cantor aide, who was watching Cantor closely since his primary defeat. “Clearly he’s been traveling and talking to a lot of people.”

Yes. Cantor can no longer lead obstruction, which any monkey can do and be easily replaced by another monkey.

he just might be------and if there are existing conditions it could make it even better --thank you for your post ---I am glad Mr Cantor is gone----I just can't believe the Virginia electorate throwing him under the bus---he was going to be speaker --or something of some seniority----ready to bring home the bacon---and they throw him out----the GOP is in a very sad shape right now

(with very little insight about Cantor).

This article is made of platitudes (he did not want to be a backbencher -- Really, you think? He will make a lot of money --- This is the same article written several times since June 10 and only idiots thought it would not be the case&quot and guesses by the same reporters that have been wrong about this since before June 10 (he was supposed to win easily, he was going to stay to the end, he needed money, ...).

I expect nothing good from Cantor, but politico is not my source when it comes to this type of reporting. It is CW elevated to the level of news. I will wait to know where Cantor is going to become indignant about the right things.

Anyway, I have no problem with him leaving early. Somebody tells me why the tax payers should have paid him a 5 month vacation.

ALSO, does anybody think that, humiliation excepted, Cantor is not happy to leave the House for something better. It may be that the charade from Thursday and yesterday triggered some sanity and made him realize he did not need to stick around this mess.
