This weeks showDavid Barts victory over Eric Cantor should give grassroots hope
Stop the presses. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) was soundly beaten by insurgent candidate David Bart.
The impossible has happened. The grassroots finally beat the corporatocracy. Could it be that we had it all wrong?
Could it be that instead of investing in removing money out of politics we should invest in making money
irrelevant in politics?
It is not that clear cut. It is not that simple however true. We must first ensure we lock down the ability to
communicate. Lets discuss.

(25,453 posts)1. It's a fascinating case study for those of us trying to beat big money
Two lessons I've learned from this (for starters)...
1) Primaries can be cheaper than general elections. You're targeting a smaller group of more dedicated voters and you don't need expensive television ads to do so.
2) Laura Ingraham and other talk radio people were key to Bart's victory. Unfortunately, we don't have anything like that on the left.

As far as campaign spending was concerned, the amount the Kochs put in to elect this guy, was nowhere what Cantor had.
