Four men vying for the Republican nomination for governor of Idaho had a debate last night, and an SNL sketch broke out. Seriously, the least weird thing about it was the incumbent governor, and his name is Butch Otter...http://gawker.com/i-cant-stop-watching-this-bizarre-idaho-gop-governors-d-1576919917

(297 posts)It is something of a train wreck. The debate looks like a less sophisticated version of what the Republicans do on the national stage. Take Rick Santorum out of Pennsylvania, put him in Idaho, and you get a candidate clutching and quoting his copy of Romans 1. Wow.

He admits his wife refused to take an auto emissions test and drove three years without it and nobody ever did anything. And then he immediately derided the pollution created by forest fires, saying clear-cutting is the solution.

(1,423 posts)A good portion of the general population here in Idaho buys it all hook, line and sinker. I actually think they are ripe for the plucking by a determined group of Democrats. Very evident what we are up against this fall. The political signs are going up already. I'm sure some people will drive by them and think to themselves, "I like that sign. I think I'll vote for the Republican."
The signs all over town read: "Nottercare Nobamacre." I must be getting cynical but I just want resist them. They have all the money and mouthpieces in the media. Liberal media is indeed a big myth here.

(1,423 posts)Imo the biker persona does not help Brown in Idaho. I tend to agree with posters who have commented that this disgraceful debate is a put-on by the GOP to make Otter and Fulcher look mainstream.

(1,113 posts)You Can't be a Republican without having a very narrowly circumscribed outlook on government and social issues, dictated by the Koch Brothers, Rush Limbaugh, and the big R think tanks.
They're terrified of appearing to deviate from the conservative norm, no matter how whacky that is!
The biker is the only one who shows any individuality. The rest are just interchangeable mannekins from the Heritage Foundation robot factory.
