2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSo is the GOP going to win in November by portraying themselves as saviors of a free/open Internet?
I see this happening now with the FCC ruling for a tiered Internet. All the rethugs are screaming about this rule change. Ted Cruz wants to stop the FCC.
Why are no Democrats screaming about this? Why isn't President stepping into the fray and stopping the FCC?
I can see the rethugs running in 2016 that they saved the Internet and once they get in power will censor it so fast our heads will spin and say goodbye to DU.
Once again the rethugs are winning the messaging. WTF!!!!

(8,879 posts)power, unlike the google and netflix of the world whose life depends upon ISPs.
The president is a full-on corporate stooge. Full stop. This is the first time I have ever uttered that, but I am now absolutely convinced not by his words, but by his appointments and his inactions.

(904 posts)...he knows where the real power lies (not in real people, but corporate "people" .
Sad.
But this is what we get for having only two viable corporate-backed political parties.

(3,666 posts)The righties don't understand net neutrality. The ones I've heard discuss this seems to think if the government approves it, it means the government will control the net. They want nothing to do with any rules that have to do with the net.

People seem to be getting this definition of freedom confused.
Freedom for the PUBLIC requires regulation to prevent the corporations from exploiting their customers.
Freedom for the CORPORATIONS requires no laws and they can do what they want.
No, Republicans won't like a free and open internet.
