Disturbing and Perhaps Criminal': Issa Questions Why Benghazi Docs Were Not Turned Over

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) lashed out at the Obama administration at the start of a hearing this morning on the Benghazi attack. The hearing comes just days after new emails surfaced, pointing to a link between top White House officials and the false narrative put forth by Susan Rice about how the attack happened.

He said the new information contained in the FOIA documents and released by Judicial Watch shows that "the White House produced the talking points that Ambassador Rice used, not the intelligence community." Issa questioned why these particular documents were not produced long ago.

"It is disturbing and perhaps criminal that documents like these were hidden by the Obama administration from Congress and the public alike," said Issa, vowing to "chip away" until the full truth about Benghazi comes out.

Why go to court? The White House was forced to show the e-mails through a court order. That just makes them seem sneaky or not want to expose something. Just give them when asked and this would not even be news today.

They would tie up everything. I agree about being open but there has always been some resistance by both Congress and POTUS's to not be pushed around by the other.

This is just another example of bad decisions by his handlers/cabinet. Benghazi was on its way out of the news cycles. Even Krauthammer said that "the story was over." Now because they didn't turn this over, guess what's back in the news? Boehner is even appointing a special committee to investigate.

I don't think Carney's attitude is necessarily doing them any favors either. They should be smarter than that.

There is no credible hint of illegality or even unethical behavior. A WH cannot give up executive privilege lightly or the next time that action can be used as an argument against their case.

Do you think he would release them?

Also, is Issa a psycho or a moron? Who has said that he is a psycho, and who has said he is a moron, and are they covering up for him, saying that he is a psycho when he is really a moron, or the opposite. The public needs to know! Doesn't it?

Does President Obama have any plans for
the next two years?

If yes, he has a decision to make.
Settle this crap,
or,
spend the next 2 years fighting
about executive privilege.

If there's something damning to be found regarding Benghazi, you would've thought that 19 months would have been plenty for the Republican-controlled House to find it. Clinton was eager to cooperate with Republicans regarding Whitewater despite the lack of evidence of any criminal wrongdoing and the Republicans kept hounding him over for his entire Presidency. The Republicans will continue to hound President Obama as well no matter what he produces.
