Has anyone else noticed an inordinate amount of anti-marijuana "news" lately?

Last edited Thu Apr 24, 2014, 01:49 AM - Edit history (1)

I've heard 3 unrelated news bits today.
I live in California, and many are hoping for legalization in coming elections.
It must be nice to have the power of news outlets on your side (liquor companies, the prisons, etc).

the corporation wants to fully control the employees, we, and ensure we pay big $$$$$$ for everything. Big Pharma is one of the chief owners of this place loosely called a country.

Its also used to bring anti tobacco "news" to the forefront when the government wants a further increase in taxes on tobacco products.

Same thing has been happening with vaping the last few months, as the government is hungry to add them to the high sin tax portfolio.

I guess some of it can be the "you gotta give 'em what they want" approach to news (regarding marijuana use).
And I forgot about pharma. Of course, they don't want this.
The latest one I saw was on ABC local news talking about a correlation between marijuana use and heart disease.

Marijuana, when used in moderate amounts is one of those drugs that makes it "fun" to consider ideas outside of your previous comfort zone, to explore, to brain storm, to THINK. I'm not saying I didn't do these things before I tried marijuana, far from it. But it does make doing the things that opens one's mind more appealing to try... at least that's my experience, not just with me but with many friends. I came to the conclusion that liberalism appealed to my true nature way more than conservatism while being under the influence of a little marijuana for a few years.

Don't get me wrong. If you are just getting stoned out of your mind and laughing at Adult Swim whilst gorging on salty, sweet, unhealthy snacks (which I did my share of!) then, that's not going to be very helpful to intellectual growth. But when you get to the point of just getting "a little high" and start THINKING, that creates huge mind opening opportunities and they don't want that for people. They fear it.

while still making cannabis with more THC a schedule one substance - which is SO STUPID - because THC also has medicinal properties.

Conservatives in this nation ARE SUCH FUCKING HYPOCRITES and THEY'RE SO FUCKING STUPID THEY SHOULD DO US ALL A FAVOR AND RESIGN.

Let actual jackasses fill their seats because they couldn't do a worse job.

...all to say - yes. The drug warriors are desperate. They see the writing on the wall. The current consensus, even among those who oppose legalization is that is will continue to become reality for more and more states.

The head of the DEA is criticizing Obama for telling the truth.

I wish he would fire her Bush-appointed ass.
