U.S. Rep. Stephen Lynch on Obamacare's Election Toll: It'll Bury Dems

U.S. Rep. Stephen Lynch, the lone member of the Bay State delegation to vote against Obamacare four years ago, now predicts the law’s botched roll-out will not only cost Democrats valuable House seats but could even jeopardize their control of the Senate in this year’s hotly contested midterm elections.

“We will lose seats in the House,” the plain-talking South Boston Democrat said in Boston Herald Radio’s studio yesterday, delivering a harsh diagnosis. “I am fairly certain of that based on the poll numbers that are coming out from the more experienced pollsters down there. And I think we may lose the Senate. I think that’s a possibility if things continue to go the way they have been ... primarily because of health care.”

Democratic strategist Steve McMahon said the key for Democrats is promoting the law’s popular parts, citing a provision letting parents cover their children until age 26 — even though recent polls show the majority of people look at the law itself negatively. A Gallup poll last week showed 54 percent of Americans disapproved of the Affordable Care Act, compared to 43 percent who approved of it.

“The question for Democrats is they own their vote, they own the bill, and they can’t run away from it. So they need to embrace it and talk about the features people love,” McMahon said. “And there are many.” http://bostonherald.com/news_opinion/local_coverage/2014/04/us_rep_stephen_lynch_on_obamacares_election_toll_itll_bury_dems

Why do these anti ACA politicians keep moving the goal posts every-time?

11. Another thing: a rocky rollout doesn't invalidate the entire program!

Lynch is and always will be an asshole. If Democrats suffer it won't be because of the ACA, it'll be because too many of them were scared to admit it's now successful.

7. The best thing Dems can do is stress the positive aspects of it

and pledge to support fixes to the law as needed so as to make it better/less harmful for the most amount of people. They also should- when attacked by Republicans- put THEM on the defensive for not have a bill to vote on, much less a viable set of alternative ideas for improving health care and that repealing ACA will mean taking something away from people, some of whom are getting coverage for the first time in their lives.

9. And what makes them think that the hospitals can manage all of them

and why the hell do they think it's healthy, cost-effective, or, hell, MORAL that people should have to wait until they are on death's door to seek medical attention?

10. Because they are poor at thinking things through.

Republicans no longer can think long term, nor can they think deeply about things. They subsist on decisions that solve their immediate woes at the moment while dining on a diet of low information and boldly made up garbage.

So to answer your question, Republicans don't want sick people flooding state charity hospitals any more than they want it to happen. What they "want" is to oppose anything attached to Obama no matter what it may be. If Obama came out supporting hygiene through wiping one's own ass, the Republicans would immediately stop wiping to be contrary. Thought doesn't enter into it at all.

12. perhaps Rs hate ACA because 'more profit' from Gov$$ to treat uninsured who crawl into hospitals.

Someone had to pay for whatever treatment was given (Pre-ACA insurance) to anyone who managed to make it to 'treatment'.
Even if the 'pay' to treat uninsured was a Tax write-off (discount) or a direct payment of our Federal Gov. money to cover the massive hospital charges.
