Gohmert: It's Not 'Personal' With Holder, But He 'Persecutes'

IGOR BOBIC – APRIL 9, 2014, 10:04 AM EDT

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) claims that his feud with Attorney General Eric Holder isn't "personal," and that he's merely doing his job overseeing the Justice Department.

But on Wednesday, the day after Holder and the eccentric congressman got into another spat on the Hill (see this thread for background: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1014775129), Gohmert couldn't resist taking aim at the attorney general who he says "persecutes" those he investigates.

“He is the highest law enforcement officer in the country, and he is obviously choosing, making personal choices, rather than objective choices, on who he prosecutes and persecutes and who he doesn’t,” Gohmert said on "Fox and Friends," as quoted by Politico. “So it’s not personal. It’s a matter of proper oversight and … I don’t think he’s doing his job. Otherwise, he would produce the documents that allow us to see that.”

“Well, it’s not personal with me. He seems like a likable guy,” Gohmert added, when asked about the tone of the proceeding.

and a JAG.

How on Earth did that man graduate from Baylor law, serve as a JAG, rise to the rank of Captain, get elected as a judge and go on to be appointed chief justice of the TX 12th Circuit Court of Appeals? I don't mean to imply he's dumb...he's clearly not dumb; I mean you'd think being utterly froot loops would have been an impediment there somewhere.

the rank of Captain was awarded to anyone that was a lawyer and serving in the JAG Corps. I don't know what the excuse can be for him being a Judge (a dumb electorate?)

in our paralegal classes told us that "there's federal law, state law, municipal law, and Texas." She said that Texas judgeships are gained through the 'Bubba factor', it's who you know or or who you're related to. Scary.

He gives vivid, public evidence of his stupidity practically every week. I don't know about JAG, but I do know that there are plenty of dim people in law schools, and TX judgeships are parceled out like penny candies. There's no excuse for Asparagus Louie, none whatsoever.

"When you're driving down a country road and you see a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle. You know he didn't get up there by himself. He doesn't belong there; he can't get anything done while he's up there; and you just want to help the poor, dumb thing down." Molly Ivins talking about George W. Bush.

Even asked about his asparagus before leaving, which Gohmert no doubt found quite neighborly
