Committee investigating Bridgegate plans to meet next week, issue more subpoenas

Committee investigating Bridgegate plans to meet next week, issue more subpoenas

(CNN) – The New Jersey state legislative committee investigating Gov. Chris Christie’s involvement in an alleged political payback scheme plans to meet again Tuesday to discuss issuing more subpoenas.

Lawmakers on the committee are particularly interested in getting documents from Christie’s own internal investigation, which last week cleared the New Jersey governor of any involvement in the lane closures to the George Washington Bridge last September.

The Democratic-led panel may subpoena interview transcripts and other materials gathered by a team of lawyers Christie hired to investigate the bridge scandal, sources familiar with the legislative investigation tell CNN.

Earlier this week, committee co-chairman John Wisniewski told the Associated Press that Christie’s lawyers appeared to have withheld information that his committee had previously subpoenaed and to have access to information the committee hasn’t seen.
