People can't be this stupid... Well, maybe they really are. Of course, I'm sure racism against Obama plays a part of this too.

I hope this is one of those cases where the results are falling within the margin of error but are heavily tilted one direction (towards Republicans). I am not sure what these results mean, but I hope the Democrats push an increase in the minimum wage to get people to the polls. Turnout will matter a great deal. Please, party leaders, give the people something to vote for.

I know a lot will change between now and then. Pushing minimum wage through will help the Dems tremendously.

The House will never agree to increase the minimum wage so long as the R's control it, but we need to push for it to convince the people that we're actually fighting for them and not the corporate fat-cats who run the country. The people will vote for Democrats as long as we don't pretend to be Republicans. On that score, Truman was right:

I've seen it happen time after time. When the Democratic candidate allows himself to be put on the defensive and starts apologizing for the New Deal and the fair Deal, and says he really doesn't believe in them, he is sure to lose. The people don't want a phony Democrat. If it's a choice between a genuine Republican, and a Republican in Democratic clothing, the people will choose the genuine article, every time; that is, they will take a Republican before they will a phony Democrat, and I don't want any phony Democratic candidates in this campaign.
