47 Percent Of Americans — Yes, 47 —View Mitt Romney Favorably

IGOR BOBIC – FEBRUARY 25, 2014, 3:26 PM EST

Netflix star Mitt Romney may be swimming in good press lately, but public opinion of the man hasn't changed much since the 2012 presidential election, according to a new Gallup survey.

In fact, 47 percent of Americans say they have a favorable view of the former governor of Massachusetts — the same percentage of Americans that Romney once dismissed as moochers for not paying federal income tax.

Romney carried a 50 percent favorability rating just after November 2012, according to Gallup:

Romney is no longer under the scrutiny he endured on the campaign trail and has returned to the public spotlight in recent weeks with the premiere of "Mitt," a film some critics felt humanized the candidate who was criticized for failing to connect with everyday Americans. He has also been widely quoted for his criticisms of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. But despite this exposure, Romney hasn't enjoyed a bump in favorability.

Given the collapse of Christie, there is a chance that the sane wing of the party may call on Romney. I also think that Romney is a weak candidate and issues like his tax returns will kill him in a race against Hillary Clinton
