NJ Dems Not Satisfied With Christie's Answers

CAITLIN MACNEAL – JANUARY 9, 2014, 1:31 PM EST1026

This post has been updated.

A couple of Democratic members of the New Jersey state legislature were not entirely satisfied with Gov. Chris Christie's claims Thursday at a press conference that he did not know that members of his staff ordered lane closures on the George Washington Bridge last year.

"This is beyond the pale," Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D) told the Newark Star-Ledger. "He has not asked a question in four months? He suddenly found out this was a big deal? Where was he four months ago?"

Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D), who led the assembly's investigation into the lane closures, was skeptical that members of Christie's staff came up with the plan to cause traffic issues in Fort Lee all by themselves.

"This in an administration that keeps a tight rein," he told the Star-Ledger. "It strains credibility that Bridget Kelly would concoct this plan all by herself." Wisniewski said that the emails and text messages published Wednesday show that the plan was in the works for a while.

getting away with his bullying towards both parties for a long time. I, too, wondered why there was not much support for Buono, but this might be the reason.

They knew he was going to win and that he'd be vindictive afterwards.

Everyone knew it.

We'll, except for some on DU who think Dems endorsed him cause the preferred him over Buono.

Christie as the presidential nominee because he had some "skeletons" that had not yet been vetted nationally. Will be interesting to see how far he can carry his "bully bluff power" in the Republican Party, holding off those who might actually be contenders and wasting precious campaign time while attracting negative messaging for the Party. When do the Kochs et al come knocking at his door? I can't see them bowing to his fragile ego.

loves ... Especially the vindictive elements.

But he's not subtle enough about it.

And his trusted staff appears to be petty and clumsy.

7. Christie probably did slow down the bleeding a little bit.

But he might have opened up a bigger wound if it turns out he knew more in October than what he is claiming - because that will look like a cover-up to get past the election.

8. They should call the fired staffer as a witness

and ask her if causing traffic problems in Fort Lee was her idea or whether someone suggested or ordered her to do it, whether she had any discussions or meeting with anyone else, including Christie, about the bridge and when and what was said.

Let her also take the 5th if she wants, but they should follow up on every lead just like a prosecutor would.
