2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI get at least 30 emails a day!
Everyday, I get at least 30 emails a day from democrats who are trying to bring down the GOP majority in the House.
I have been doing this to myself since 2010. I do it to make sure important races are brought to light and the better candidate (democrat) is supported until victory. I share the emails and tweet the links @MrProgress89 and other sites.
I ask of anyone who reads this to please pay attention to every election cycle, for everyone of them matter. I implore you to share links to democratic campaigns and causes and donate whatever time or resources you can to them. Pay attention to every state and federal election campaign. Here are the most important ones for today:

(22,000 posts)Most of them asking for money. More so at the end of the month, quarter, and year. Unfortunately I'm broke and volunteering is harder from overseas.

(1,957 posts)They are all over your city, street, knocking on your doors before an election wanting your vote, money or labor to pass out flyers and stump for them. Far too many who win ignore many who helped or ignore their pledges/causes. Those that lose disappear until the next election cycle.
If I was running and was an unknown I would be out there every day working for my causes. If I was involved with helping people get low cost housing working with something like Habitat would be a natural. If it was spousal or child abuse I would be at those shelters helping out and getting a better understanding of the problem. Far too many go back to their other world or mingle in their comfort zone.
When you see the volunteers--many who lack much interest in politics--yet work their behinds off as a labor of love. Sadly these are the people who should be running for office and shaping our future into a better one.

(32,070 posts)right now I just target it towards candidates. I gave quite a lot to Obama. This year I'm focused on Wendy Davis.

(23,251 posts)and contribute as much as I am able, this year I will be focusing on state legislative races thru the DLCC:

IMHO, we neglect these races at our peril. Some of the worst RW nut-jobbery originates in the state houses, and if we don't start to put a major dent in it there, it will soon infect everything at the national level. Here in Missouri, there seems to be a strong push to enact a right-to-work (for less) law next year, and we only have a governor (whose level of resistance is questionable at best) to stand in the way. More regressive policies can only follow (see Texas, NC, OH, KS, and WI) if we don't put out the stop signs and throw a few of these bastards out.

(473 posts)Governor's races and state legislature seat races are equally as important.

(28,151 posts)Governor's race, SOS, AG, State Rep & Senate races. Also going to help make sure a Dem holds Levin's seat in the Senate.
I am all about those races. Thanks for bringing attention to these upcoming campaigns! They are so important in EVERY state!
On to victory!
