Once again, high gas prices are draining our wallets and making us crazy.
What to do?
We've drilled, baby, we've drilled. We're now drilling more in this country than we have in nearly a decade.
We've given tax breaks and other wasteful incentives to oil companies to try and ease our pain at the pump. We now give about $4 billion in tax breaks to the oil and gas industry each and every year.
We've listened to naysayers tell us that pursuing clean energy alternatives to oil and gas is a waste of our time and money. Now, the United States is lagging much of the rest of the world on clean energy

But if our government takes away the oil subsidies, you'll see gasoline, diesel and heating oil prices skyrocket, don'tcha know they get those benefits so they can artificially keep fuel prices affordable?
Same with the threats of milk going up to 8 bucks a gallon, they're trying to scare the consumer. Fear mongering, it works.

(5,787 posts)Its been said that conservation is the biggest oil field in the world. Most people would be better off it they would practice more conservation when it comes to their own gasoline usage.
When I see rush hour traffic in every city I drive through and I see on average only one person per car I know there is no conservation taking place. Americans are individualistic types when it comes to driving and no amount of mass transit is going to change than concept.
