Sarah Palin: I havent read Duck Dynasty interview but anus remark is quoting the GospelBy David Edwards

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) on Monday admitted that she reflexively started defending Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson without ever reading the GQ interview where he compared homosexuality to bestiality and said that African-Americans were happy before they had civil rights.
In his controversial interview with GQ, Robertson had talked about sin: Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.
It seems like, to me, a vaginaas a manwould be more desirable than a mans anus, he said.
He also claimed that he had never seen a black person mistreated in the South during the Jim Crow era.
I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once, Robertson insisted. Theyre singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, I tell you what: These doggone white peoplenot a word! Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.
After the A&E network suspended Robertson from his show, Palin took to her Facebook page to opine that [f]ree speech is an endangered species. Those intolerants hatin and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us.
Fox News host Greta Van Susteren pointed out to Palin on Monday that some people were misusing the term free speech, meaning that you jump someone for saying something and that you dont jump others.
But if the market wants to be such that people dont want to watch someone, then so be it, the Fox News host said.
Thats right, Palin replied. Thats why I say attorneys can discuss and argue whether its a legal free speech issue or not.
Its one thing to express your opinion, Van Susteren noted. Do you have any problem, you know, about the manners of how he said it. We dont talk about it on television much, but if you actually the read article, theres a rather and offensive at least, I think offensive description of it. You know, there are two ways to say different things, and in the article and I know hes a graphic type guy, but do you have any objection on the manners aspect, how he said it?
I havent read the article, Palin admitted, clearing her throat. I dont know exactly how he said it. But, Greta, what he was doing was in response to a question about a lifestyle that he disagrees with. And yet he has said over and over again, he doesnt hate the person engaging in a lifestyle he disagrees with. But in response, he was quoting the Gospel.
So people who are so insulted and offended by what he said, evidently, are offended by what he was quoting in the Gospel. So thats another interesting aspect in all of this.

(318 posts)Or ... Thine anus is more blessed than the finest rubies.
Or ... One time, an anus backed into a bar.
Or ... Sarah Palin had never seen an anus until she looked in the mirror.

(40,212 posts)at least the follow-up question. Something like, "You choose to comment on an article that you had not read?"
Palin is a poser and a fraud. I can see her in high school giving book reports on novels she had not read.

(14,918 posts)Palin didn't bother to read the Bible, either, before opining about its contents. At least she's consistent in her willful ignorance.

(13,324 posts)of a homosexual orientation didn't even exist until the late 19th Century. Very likely Paul was speaking there of pederasty - i.e. child abuse - more than anything else. Not to mention the man had an obvious bias against sex in general.

and the New TEstament in Koine Greek,
take my word for it:
The word 'anus' does not appear in the gospel.
but then we know.. who the 'anus' is in this conversation.

(347 posts)It's no wonder robertson never saw, or heard of the things he spoke of, he grew up living in a cave like most Neanderthals did. His mommy n daddy gave him a very sheltered life showered with gunz n ducks, and false biblical quotes. And of course right wingers will come to his defense, he just loooooooves gunz like caribou barbie. The only thing that caribou barbie did was reinforce our own knowledge that hard right wingers love to revise history, and have reading comprehension problems.

(He should've come out of his cave and gone into town occasionally. Reading comprehension isn't his only problem.)

(24,414 posts)do the networks and other media continue to give her a platform? What makes her so special/interesting/newsworthy that media networks hang on her every idiotic/prejudiced/bigoted pronouncement? I am disgusted by the lowest common denominator scraping the bottom of the bucket the MSM is constantly engaged in. Instead of hearing from intelligent, thoughtful people like Elizabeth Warren, Barack Obama, et. al (whom the media seem more interested in trying to destroy), we have to hear about Sarah Palin's every excited utterance and her defense of bigots like Robertson?

(17,863 posts)His comment about eternal healthcare is also puzzling. If he is not a Christian Scientist, then it does not make sense.
"Temporary is all you're going to get with any kind of health care, except the health care I'm telling you about. That's eternal health care, and it's free. ... I've opted to go with eternal health care instead of blowing money on these insurance schemes."
Is it an either/ or proposition if you accept Christina salvation, then you don't need doctors?
Also from about the 6th century to now practically everyone (except the Jews that were being persecuted and had no power base) called themselves Christians in Europe, but we had continual warfare http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_conflicts_in_Europe#16th_century
"If you simply put your faith in Jesus coming down in flesh, through a human being, God becoming flesh living on the earth, dying on the cross for the sins of the world, being buried, and being raised from the dead -- yours and mine and everybody else's problems will be solved. And the next time we see you, we will say: 'You are now a brother. Our brother.' So then we look at you totally different then. See what I'm saying?"
Of course lets not forget the bloodiest conflict in U.S. history - the Civil War which pitted Bible believing Christians on both sides.

(26 posts)I have often said that the Tea Party is just a front for a real monster that seeks old-time religious thought control over America. You see this in someone like Palin and others who are quick to side with 'Vulgar Phil'. Many of the organizers of the Tea movement are wealthy christians from the Bible-Belt, as well as other usual suspects from the Religious Right. This Phil incident is just the latest ugly example of their desire to control personal choices. Notice that they now complain about the loss of "Religious Freedom", which really just means majority religious control over others.
