Former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown’s Move to New Hampshire Fuels Talk of Senate Race

Former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown plans to move to New Hampshire, the latest sign that he’s considering a U.S. Senate bid there, which would complicate Democrats' effort to hold their majority in the chamber.

Brown, 54, has found a buyer for his Wrentham home and is set to close on that deal this week, Andrew I. Glincher, managing partner and chief executive officer at Brown’s employer Nixon Peabody LLP, said in an interview. Brown will continue to work out of the law firm’s Boston office because he isn’t licensed to practice law in New Hampshire, Glincher said.

Brown didn’t respond to an e-mail inquiry.

The move will fuel speculation that Brown intends to challenge New Hampshire’s Democratic U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen, who is seeking re-election next year. Brown lost his Massachusetts Senate seat to Democrat Elizabeth Warren in 2012.

Republicans need a net gain of six seats in the 2014 midterms to take control of the Senate. The party already has a majority in the U.S. House.

he's a walking talking living breathing double standard.

"i hate the gubmint, so elect me to run your gubmint."

and i kinda hope goofy new hampshire falls for it. then they can have the ragtag team of morons: kelly ayotte and scott brown, the most useless pair of hated senators that the country has ever seen.

go for it, new hampshire! you did so good with kell kell already. see if you can go two for two.

at stake. Not to mention, Brown was never a most "hated" senator - and their are many worse than Ayotte, who needs to be replaced in 2016 when she is up.

Brown is an extremely flawed person - who used looks and the media's description of him as charming to win a seat in the first place. How many other Senators spoke of spending their day speaking to kings and queens who called them for advise?

He has played the statewide media (ie, the joke that is WMUR TV and the abomination of the so-called state newspaper from Manchester) like cheap fiddle. His "big move" has been in the news now for a year, giving him a veneer of knighthood.
Unfortunately for Scottie, Jeanne Shaheen is a tough, intelligent politician who understands New Hampshire quite well. She will have him for lunch if he takes her on.

... the population centers are a lot colder than Boston. Having spent a good part of my life in "Live Free or Die" land, I remember that many New Hampshire natives never took too kindly to their neighbors to the south, especially opportunists. Brown will have the Tea Party vote, but he faces a formidable and savvy opponent in Jeanne Shaheen. Anyway, he's free to live wherever he wishes, frostbite and all.
