Stand with Jeff Merkley against Wall Street

We stood up to Wall Street. They marshaled a legion of lobbyists, but we never backed down.

This week, we won a big victory for the American people and the middle class.

All five regulators, including the Federal Reserve, the Securities Exchange Commission, and the FDIC, approved a strong Volcker Rule firewall. Going forward, Wall Street banks will be unable to gamble like high-risk hedge funds -- the same sort of "swing for the fences" bets that crashed the economy and created both the Great Depression and the Great Recession.

Of course, that legion of lobbyists won’t go away. They’ll be back, trying to carve loopholes into the law. But I’ll stay vigilant – to ensure that we don’t put the middle class at risk again.

And you’d better believe that Wall Street's not going to take that lying down. They surely want a Senator who will let their lobbyists write the rules.
